How many threads have we gone through without making a transfer?:DLove the thread title, though it's August 16th I'm waiting for. THE MORE YOU KNOW: first time we haven't opened up on a Sunday in 5 years I think.

David Villa misses final and must now be 5 million quid cheaper.
:) Midfielder Claude Makelele is staying at Chelsea after agreeing a one-year extension that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2010. (Daily Star)
Big Phil means business : New Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari has written to the Blues players who were not involved in Euro 2008 telling them to cut short their holidays - because he is starting work a week early. (Daily Mirror)

Now we apparently want Zhirkov because of the Euros, while Jose was eying him since March and wants him, followed immediatly by Grant saying Chelsea have been following and want him
Look to my earlier posts and delete Arshavin and replace with Zhirkov as to why the question is why?
Still rather have Young and rather have Arshavin more than Zhirkov actually if we have to have a Russian, though the goalkeeper as a back up is the only I would really sanction.
But Barca has made an offer for Arshavin and ManUre apparently bought Zhirkov supposedly by Russian media so who cares

p.s. we signed the premier defensive midfielder in the world, good bit of business that

Zhirkov is a LB, isn't he? Why on earth would we need/want him?
Great news about Makelele.

He plays LB for Russia, but is mostly deployed as a LM or LW for his club.

Lets hope it is not true, especially the part about replacing Frank with useless diving shit Deco. Signing Deco over Frank? That would be a downgrade.

Zhirkov is a nice player, but not Chelsea quality IMO. Wouldn't mind if he was a bench player for us, I guess.

No idea about the crediabilty about this french site
http://www.francefootball.fr/FF/breves2008/20080627_164937_lampard-a-l-inter_Dev.html
says he signed guraenteed 4 year deal at 110/wk with 7 million quid fee
If we lost Lamp over an extra year or two, heads should roll, quite literally

Personally, I never thought Frank wanted to resign.
