What does "water down" means?
To dilute the tournament with more teams. It appears to me as well that 16 teams is enough.
Congratulations to Spain.

Oh my goodness! Cannot believe how lucky those greasy spaniards are to win on penalty shoot-out. Villa and Torres are absolutely a disgrace to the beautiful game, they always dive! Besides, they bought the referee for sure: Silve should have been sent off for his headbutt and there wasn't a foul on Capdevila in the last action. Cheating scum !
Just kidding :p
Well done Spain, fully deserved victory! I'm glad you finally won a major tournament after all those years of bad luck.:)

It could have been 3-0 with goals from late counterattacks in the 2nd half of the 2nd half.
I mean if you want to start counting chances I could say that Klose might have scored very early on, Ballack might have scored from inside the box, silva should have been sent off, marchena's handball was a clear penalty...
we don't want to do that do we?
Spain outplayed germany and deserved to win, but not by the margin you're saying.
You might also say that Ballack could have gotten mutliple yellows, Lehmann should have been sent off for hands outside the box with no more subs available, Podolski got unto the head of Silva that he was pushing him off his face instead of headbutting him.
Marchena didn't make hands by the way, you're thinking of Capdevilla, and that wasn't intentional like Lehman did it.

Germany was really betrayed by inconsistent defending and by some gaffs by Lehman. He was out of position on several plays and was lucky he wasn't booked on the handball coming out of the penalty area. Ballack except for his one chance on goal was generally a non-factor. In fact his antics should have resulted in quicker sanctions. Spain was unlucky not to have scored at least another goal. Spain was shaky and surrendered possession in the first 15 minutes of the match and then started imposing themselves. Some beautiful combination plays. I thought that Spain's Ramos did a great job of supporting the attack. Very creative play and chances on goal.

They could be extending the number of teams in the tourney from 16 to 24

The field of 16 teams will be expanded for Euro 2016. The quality of the tournament will therefore diminish.

The better team won - plain and simple. Still, it was fun while it lasted!
Congrats Spain - auf geht's Deutschland!

I don't think the inclusion of teams like England, Ireland, Scotland, Denmark et some would necessarily be a bad thing.

Are they definitely adding more teams for 2016? I thought UEFA hadn't made a final decision yet.
Germany has become 2nd best in recent times. The Almost Team...well congrats to Spain they deserved it. Will it be another 40 yrs before they win something again...I guess we'll see in 2010. I can't see Germany winning anything anytime soon, unfortunately for Germany. But they'll come in 2nd no doubt. :D

You named 4 teams. They want to add 8.
I am more concerned over the format with 24 teams. How will they structure who makes it out of the first round.

Rosseti almost had the game get away from him in the first half. He was good, I think both teams committed fouls that were worthy of cautions earlier. The head butt should have been a caution against the Spaniard. Can't recall who the player was.
I think Rosetti got that right with the no-call. They must have shown you guys only half the replay. Podolski was clearly trying to draw the red card and even leaned in first.

Why was Germany so meek Die Mannshaft fans? What was going on with all that talent? Can they be much less productive for a final?
I don't think Germany did anything better than the Spanish which surprised me (I missed the first half).

huh, without Lehmann we would´ve lost 4-0 or sth. like that
Thank you. But did you notice the person's username? He or she can't blame his or her hero for the goal, can he or she??

except your defeat as a man does.
the fact you dont mention the torres header and the iniesta deflected shot in the FIRST half makes you look foolish.
3-0 crushed is what the game deserved:mad:

Yeah so we don't want to start going tit for tat. Spain outplayed germany today but not by the margin gandalf the red was saying.
Marchena didn't make hands by the way, you're thinking of Capdevilla, and that wasn't intentional like Lehman did it.
I don't know the rule for certain but I thought it was a handball because it didn't come off the striker's foot to his hand.
He tried to control it and ended up using the hand to do it after the chest. Voluntarily or not, I thought that's a foul. (In such a situation if the hand was not used the ball might fall to an opposition player)
