Mertesacker was being praised as the new age of centre halfs before this tournament. Hes been a liabilty for Germany imo and they say English players are overhyped.

I'm relying on this thread for my updates as ABC has been knocked out in my area (northern AZ). First the semifinal fiasco, now this.

Point out some mistakes he's made other than the one he made so far in the final.

He made one against Russia when he slipped on the edge of the six yard box from a cross or a corner cant remember

Add Mario Gomez and Luca Toni to the overrated list.

A slip? Not exactly just cause to say he's been crap in the tournament. In the 3 victories Spain had in the group stage he had bugger all to do.

"Ballack nothing seems wrong with it as it seems"

No Shit John, He was never hurt same with Podolski in the Quarters the Germans have to plant these obvious phony injuries as a form of mind games. Of course they don't work when people with a thread of intelligence hear them and recognizes them to be the bullshit that it is. But it's cute that they still do it.

Didnt say he had been crap, just pointing out mistakes. He has had an ok tournment not crap but not great either.

Hes very good going forawrd but his defending isnt the best at times.

I was just using your post as point in a debate with another poster not with yourself. I'd agree with that, he's got a bit to learn with his defending but he has the makings of being one of the best there is.

Got home from DC United v Galaxy game about four minutes into the Euro final.

Great game so far, lots of nice attacking soccer from both sides.

Sieg Deutschland!!

Torres is the king of unlucky.

King of overrated, hailed as worldclass from scoring against Reading, Fulham, Derby etc.

Doesnt do it enough against top opposition for me.
