No losers in this one. Turkiye played its heart out, but as I have always said, our backups are not that far off than the starters. I expected and got the game I was looking for. Although with more defensive tactics a well drillled Euro team would have put the Germans away at the end of the first half, I'd rather see soccer played like this--with passion and scoring-minded.
Congrats to both teams...Germany is advancing because of their experience, and Turkiye has won the title in the hearts and minds of millions of fans around the globe based on their entire performance in the Euro (minus the Portugal game--Terim's wrong line up!) They have shown again that they have a very different, intersting and entertaining style of play with a ot of creativity in attack.
But, mostly Europe won tonight based on the early reports of the Turks and the Germans celebrating in the streets and clubs, sharing the memories of a great match and enjoying the quality of both teams. Turkiye was underestimated by a ton of people and showed them what reality is...they will be a European powerhouse for decades to come. Hail Turkiye and my best to our friends, the victors tonight--Go Germany!!;)

I loved Turkey's spirit and never ending will to battle......
BUT
to say they will be a powerhouse for years to come is a stretch.
I need more than one tournament to be convinced of this.
All I heard 4 years ago was that Greek football would be the NEW
kings of football in Europe.
Let's see what they can do in WC qualifying with Spain and Belgium.

I don't remember anyone saying that of the Greeks but I have heard it a lot about the Turks for a while considering they should have been finalists in 2002!

Buit after 2002 they missed Euro 2004 and WC 2006. Just wait, if Turkey can repeat their success.

Are you forgetting their 3rd place in WC in 2002? How about Fenerbahce making it o the final 8 this year in the Champions' League? This run did not start just yesterday. It started years ago with the 2000 Euro and Galatasary winning the Uefa championship.
With the whole nation crazy about soccer--no understatement, it is taken more seriously than religion-- and the Turkish leagues getting better and better, they are producing top quality players left and right. What you noticed in fact at this tournament, was the fact that the calibre of the players did not drop of too much from the starters. With not much difficulty, we could have fielded two more national teams that would play almost at this level.
No comparison to Greece...the emphasis on the sport and the quality of play goes much deeper. WC qualifying will be another testament.

I think this is early to say that too. Another thing is that , One of the most important Turkish commentator said after we lost to Portugal, angrily
`If you form teams except starters , Turkey would definitely beat all the teams`
Those who know Turkish players would agree that. This is not similar to Greece.
There are lots of different players from Turkish team since being 3rd in 2002 WC, and now ( only Rustu and Emre is same , who did not contribute much in this tournament, Emre just one game, and Rustu is being blamed by everybody)
But take France for example, their success was a result of Zidane, Vieria...
Take Klose and Ballack out of Germany, then they are a mediocre team...
We saw how Italy weaken just without Cannavaro?
and needless to say, in this tournaments, most players from a country was from Turkish origin (if not Poland)
Switzerland - 3 Turks, Austria - 2 Turks,
when Turkey have some mediocre centerbacks, they will dominate football.
Lets look four 4 centerbacks of Turkey,
Take Gokhan Zan , who played 3 matches, for example. He plays for Besiktas, and Besiktas transferred Zapoticnky instead of him ( a Czech player who was not even invited to tournament)
Emre Asik,(played 2 matches) who played last serious national match
in 1995 (who did not join WC 2002, and did not play in EC 2000, even he was not injured).
Servet Cetin the 'bionic man', who is playing injured, for 6 months, and played injured too.
Emre Gungor, most Turkish people did not know him a year ago.
Turkish team in my opinion, is among the top 3-4 teams in terms of attacking power.

in Turkish NTV, they are showing Spanish players watching the Turkey-Germany match, and they cheered by jumping when Turkey scored,
(Casillas, Abelajo and some other), is there some tension between Spain-Germany similar to Switzerland-Turkey?

Turkey made a big mistake and went to an overnight youth movement instead of building a bit more gradulally around the very successful 2002 team and lost continuity in the process. Senol, the highly successful coach of the 2002 team was unceremoniously canned. Soon after him, the new coach Ersun Yenal also got highly ceriticized and just as his "young " team was gelling, he got canned! In came Terim and he tried to balance it with a few more veterans to salvage the qualifications but lost qualifying for 2004 Euro to the Swiss even though we beat them 4-2 in the last game in Istanbul(they went ahead because of the advantage of away goals). Otherwise you would have seen us in Euro 2004.
This head hunting and the incredible criticism of the coaches by the fans and especially the media in Turkiye makes that key position a hard one to stay on. I have never seen it to the extent that I do in Turkiye...and that is one of the biggest problems facing Turkish soccer progress and consistency. It is not a lack of quality players.

hehe, this Spain, not San Marino or Malta(no offense to those countries, but I could not find any other example)? Would Germany act that way?
Even in Turkey people would not care who will be the opponent if aim is to get the cup.

Top-twenty maybe. Some Turkish fans are somehow megalomaniac and have an inferiority complex at the same time.

No, I just don't think they want to face Germany!

Inferiority complex? Turks? You must be kidding, right? A Turk is by nature a highly optimistic person with a highly driven, "can do" mentality. We always believe we can do the harder things..and keep trying. But inferiority? More bullishness and at times arrogant, but not inferior!

I heard from much turkish fans, that turkey will win, because their team has more heart and more soul and will play with passion. In contrast to the german team....
This blabber about heart and passion is clearly an indicator of an inferiority complex.
Well it's just a little provocation, because we won like turkey won in their last games. :p
I like your style, keep it up guys.
be thankful for poland players of you.
Your best player was Hamit Altintop, a german player. :p
