Congrats to German team, well done to the lads. Credit to Schwanny and Lahm.

As for my team, they are my heroes. This is our B team and they fought until the end. What would be if arda, tuncay and nihat around, we will always wonder. I do not want to mention Rustu and Volkan ban.

We were better in the first half, second half was equal. The match would be more fun if it will be extended, however we tasted a bit of our own medicine.

Have a nice night you all. Our German friends should have some fun. We would if we had the chance.

Again it needs a person like Torque to find the right words! And I wont allow anyone to put a damn knife in between our two nations.

BTW living in a totally turkish district and so far everything was calm. Well not realy calm since there are parties going on everywhere... but you see turks and germans all mixed together. The turks have nothing to be ashamed of, rather the germans. But we knew we had to expect a fierce battle and we got what we expected. Never underestimate this team, even if it is totally reduced to only a few wounded players. There is a reason why turks came to germany, no other two nations have this fighting spirit.

roxbury, plz go away with your stupid ref ramblings.
Ppl were very civil to each other and you need to drag this thread in a stupid ref discussion even if there wasnt much to discuss (despite a clear penalty that wasnt given to Lahm who would have been through and alone in the penalty box).

Congrats to Turkey for a great performance, their best performance in this tournament.
Germany overall had a lot of problems, a bad game, too many mistakes in build up play though it was enough to create the needed chances.
At least we were again effective and im sure we will play better against a "big" opponent (no offense to Turkey but like ppl said Turkey played with a B-Team and there was a lot of pressure on the german team to win it, a lose would have been hard to explain).

Germany, along with Italy and Portugal, are probably the teams I really don't like.

But even I had to admit. That foul on Lahm is a penalty with a yellow card.

Why the red card for UEFA2008? Sockpuppet?

But hell they caught us every time with our pants down. I agree that we would probably perform better against a team like spain. But who cares, this was a hell of an exciting battle (and I nearly shit my pants) and much more than we usually expect from a semi final. Maybe I am biased but I think it was a thrilling game!

We always warned people here that Germany isnt a uber-human team but noone wanted to listen. Turkey however showed what noone expected, a strategy of coordinated chaos. Something even Einstein wouldnt have been able to forecast.

It was a thrilling game from this neutrals perspective, don't worry about that

I just thought of an interesting possibility.

If Russia beat Spain in the semifinal and beats Germany in the final, they would have avenged every single Euro final they had lost in one tournament.

Spain 1964
FINAL Spain 2-0 USSR

Belgium 1972
FINAL West Germany 3-0 USSR

West Germany 1988
FINAL Netherlands 2-0 USSR
----------------------------
Austria & Switzerland 2008
QUATERFINAL Russia 3-1 Netherlands
SEMIFINAL Russia ?-? Spain
FINAL Russia ?-? Germany

That IS interesting. A lifetime's redemption in the course of a week!

Fantastic game. I just wish we hadn't lost the feed so many times during the broadcast.

That sucked.

Really breathtaking stuff. This EURO has been superb in that respect. Too bad the feed was so faulty. Detracted from the suspense.

In regards to the Germans underperforming: to an extend, it's true. They were put on the back foot from the first whistle by a more urgent and dynamic Turkish team. But taking the game as a whole, I don't think you can say that Turkey were the better team. They made life extremely difficult for the Germans (and extremely frustrating for at least one of the supporters), but I thought that after Frings entered, Germany looked the more likely to win.

And even though this was Turkey's "B" team, nobody should have thought that Germany was going to run away with this. Since 1980, there has been only 1 Euro Semi-final to have a 2-goal margin of victory. Close games are an inevitability. The stakes are just too high for one team to walk all over another. It's one thing to play beautiful football in the group stages, but when the finals are at stake, teams are naturally going to be more conservative. Don't get me wrong, the Turks were terrific. They were better in the first half. But these games are decided by moments, not periods of dominance. I'm proud of the way the Germans stuck it out, even when in footballing terms, they've seen better days. And let's be fair, the first and last German goals were pretty fantastic.

Of course, we'll need to step it up in the final, but Germany have a knack of coming up big against big teams. So right now, all things considered, I'm pretty effing happy.

lol, here there are tons of large buildings around me with lots of appartements. I heard tremendous "uuuhs" and "nooooos" all over the place when the screens went blank. Again Austria doesnt look too german in their organisation skills and again switzerland works like a swiss watch.

Oh I was born in Aachen. After that I traveled the world (with two turks always on my side). Ended up in Berlin with an internet startup. The two went their own way but I still see them now and then. Tonight my girlfriend was sick so we couldnt meet up and I watched it together with her only.

They didnt call me yet but I assume they were drunk before the game even started.

Actually you stop talking crap no1 is dragging nothing here, face it cards have been given out to the Turks so easily in this tournament, and in this game if the german defenders where to be given the yellows when they should have got it, maybe the game would be different who knows, anyway its over now and what a pity you talk about the German team having pressure against a Turkish B Team, this German team is how expirienced?? If this team gets Spain in the final they will destroy Germany.

a ref going against them? I saw a potential penalty kick but okay.
I cant blame referee for result and you re right it was certanly foul but it was NOT in penalty area watch it again.

We played better but thats not so important you re in final and i congratulate you.Im proud of my national team they did their best.

i have to say that a german player (bearded one)who i cant remember his name now acted like twat,he tried to make Semih get 2. yellow card during the match:mad:

I think this is a forum to discuss opinions, not a Germany fanzone, right?

I checked commentators in Turkey, they reasoning for defeat as follows
%20 Rustu
%30 Referee (this and before, giving easy yellows to Turkey, not giving yellow to Germany, Germany did not have suspended players,
oh God, if I didnt watch this match and Portugal I thought they play like gentleman in field)

I never came accross with a comment saying Germany played better, though for the last 2 matches(Czech and Croatia) all of them said the opponents played better, so in Turkey everybody is happy, Turkish commentators prefer to lose a game while playing better rather playing crap and not lose, for the first time they are not critizing Fatih Terim.

Honestly, as a soccer lover, screw the results. We all saw the match, actually the entire world did. And again turkey proved that any forecast working against them is wrong!! A small team with a big spirit could beat anyone. Who knows, maybe if turkey would have had more player available they would have actually played worse. But that doesnt count. All that counts is that we showed the world a great entertaining match of two countries that never give up. Never ever. One goal more or less is just luck. Screw luck and enjoy soccer.

Turkey showed a performance that spain and russia sitll have to proof. And maybe it will be like 2006 when most people said the real final was the semi-final. For me it already is so, whether we win it or fail.

I really like Aachen. I've only been there a couple of times (I used to live in Rheinland-Pfalz). Berlin is pretty amazing too, but I haven't been there since the summer of 1990. I'm sure it's changed a whole lot since then :)
