I see no problem with this.
-----------------------Cech-----------------------
Bosingwa-----Carvalho---------Terry--------A. Cole
-----------Essien-----Ballack-----Lampard---------
---Cole---------------------------------Ronaldinho
----------------------Drogba---------------------
Cudicini
Ferreira, Alex, Ivanovic, Bridge
Makelele, Mikel, Wright-Phillips
Kalou, Sinclair
Villa
IN (OUT):
Bosingwa (Belletti)
Ivanovic (Ben Haim)
Ronaldinho (Malouda)
Sinclair (Pizarro)
Villa (Anelka)
Might keep Sheva around if Milan simply want to rape us. If not then I'd go for a 19-22 year old foward that can be developed.

Here's the team I'd like to see in a typical Scolari Formation - 4-2-3-1
----------------------Cech----------------
Bosingwa-----Carvalho-----Terry-----Cole
------------Essien-------Mikel/Maka
Ballack-------------Deco--------------Ronaldinho
---------------------Villa -----------------

I'm sorry Randy36, but this is absolutely absurd.
First: You think we're better off without Lampard? Have you watched the team without him?
Second: Ballack is not a winger. Never has been, never will be. He's not fast enough to play out there and even if he were, playing on the wing would take him out of the middle where he excels at controlling the ball and finding the right pass.
Third: No Joe Cole? Honestly? He was our second-best player this season (after Carvalho). You'd rather play Ballack on the wing than Joe Cole?
Fourth: Villa as a lone striker ahead of Drogba? With that formation you need a striker who can hold up the ball. Villa's good at many things, but that doesn't seem to be one of them.
Finally: With Maka in there, you want another defensive midfielder? Didn't you see what happened when France tried to do that? It doesn't work. When Maka plays, the other mids' job is to attack and cover their men, but not to play level with him and get in his way.
Come on, Randy. Think before you put down any old formation.

Definitely would love to see Ballack at right-wing, Deco playing #10 and Villa up front alone:rolleyes:

On the bench.
Somebody has to come on later in the game and no player will play all games.
That is the starting line up I would like to try, each and every one of the tried and tested in the league and proven quality.
Even Diarra...his spell at Pompey where he played every week showed that he actually has the quality to back up the incredible ego.

Boy Clan, normally I agree with you on most things, but starting Lassana Diarra and Ashley Young over Essien and Joe Cole, when both Ess and JC are more proven than the other two, is a pretty big error in judgment in my opinion.

Heading back to London next weekend. Enjoyed my stay in the U.S. Getting too old for you young whippersnappers. Sorry you found fault with the team I picked. I'm sure Scolari will take care of that.
I understand he is not very impressed with Joe Cole. I was under the impression Lampard and Drogba were leaving. Agreed Ballack is not a winger but perhaps he will interchange him with Deco. I understand Scolari usually uses two holding midfielders and would interchange Mikel and Maka with Essien.
Have my seaon tickets for the upcoming season and am looking forward to the games at Stamford Bridge. I'm interested in seeing the changes Scolari will make.
Cheerio lads.
