Was this match shown on US television?

There is a special NBC Olympic Soccer Channel on some channels. My cable is TimeWarner and I watched it live (in HD) with NBC announcers (JP Dellacamara and Marcelo Balboa).

Edit: Not sure if it was tape delayed or live, but it was on that day. Check out this link for info: http://www.worldcupblog.org/world-football/nbcs-olympic-soccer-schedule-on-tv-and-online.html

I'll just copy what I posted in the Argentine board:

Tough opening match. I'm a bit concerned about the defense, especially the fullbacks, but offensively I think they played well and can only get better as they play more time together.

Here's my evaluation of the players, while it's still fresh:

Ustari 5: Was not tested much, but I think he should have stopped their goal.

Zabaleta 5: Partly responsible for the goal and sometimes not precise with the ball, but at least he showed himself to be an option going forward.

Garay 6: He was beaten a few times, but played hard and was solid for the most part.

Pareja 8: Good on the air, and marking, and showed leadership. The best of the defense.

Monzon 3: Poor game for Monzon, he made Gervinio look like Garrincha.

Mascherano 6: Always a warrior, and a key in midfield, but he commited too many fouls.

Gago 5: Uncharacteristically imprecise with the ball.

Riquelme 8: A key to the win, a factor in the goals, and it's good to see him look for Messi so much.

Messi 9: The man of the match. Scored a goal and was primarily responsible for the other, and he was always dangerous. The scary thing is that he was the best, and yet we know he can play much better.

Aguero 5: Did not participate much, and couldn't finish when he got the chance. Hopefully we'll see the real Kun show up.

Lavezzi 5: He opened spaces and worked hard, but was imprecise and didn't create or finish.

Subs:

Di Maria 7: In a short time he affected the play and created danger.

Acosta 8: Came in, and scored the winning goal. What more can be asked?

I agree with most of your comments, but I would just say that:
- Gervinho was really impressive. I think he is really good, more than Monzon playing bad.
- The header goal by IC was great - I'm not sure it could have been stopped.

Didn't you guys play Australia as well in 2004 olympics and only just beat them 1-0? You'll have no trouble this year against them though, shit coach and an inconsistent team. Never know, they could rise to the occasion again.

You're butting in on the wankfest.:)

They aren't giving out freebies in this Group (penalties). But still Argentina puts its rivals away. Who are the likely candidates lined up for the next round.

Well we are in the toughest group overall, ( again:rolleyes:) no disrespect to the other nations, a good result is a good result, but really lets face it I would much rather we played New Zealand or the like as well:D.
Having said that we now have won 8 olympic games matches in a row!! Not too bad at all eh??
I think the Africans and Aussies provided two very different tets for us and we passed them both, so we should take some happiness from that.

The Dutch, Nigeria and the USA. Three tough nuts to crack if we come up against them in the quarter finals...

Of them all I think Nigeria gives me the most worries, then USA and the Dutch last. I think the Dutch will play an open game and we should get chances, Nigeria will be even more physical and quick then the Ivory Coast I fear and the USA seems to always be a wierd prospect for us.
Im still confident though we will step it up to another level.

Yes either one of those 3 we'll be facing. Nigeria and United States will play eachother and Netherlands has a somewhat accesible match against Japan, assuming the dutch win, either Nigeria or United States could be out of the talk. I think we'll face Netherlands.

As it's not a vital group game now, will Argentina be playing "everyone who hasn't played yet" in the next game against Serbia? Guess I'm asking if ARG will care enough to try to win this one, rather than just going through the motions

They will play everyone who hasn't played. It's the Olympics, usually have a different air to them. Unlike World Cup where tacticians are scrutinized from every angle. Olympics is more spirited than the World Cup, which is something the World Cup will never be able to achieve.

Usually it works like this. Telemundo and then USA networks.

Riquelme and Agüero are likely going to be on the bench for this match, will we see Sosa and Di Maria from the beginning? No idea if there would be another change from the match against Australia.

Providing that we don't throw the match against Serbia:p, the Netherlands will be our opponent in the quarter final. They make me nervous...
