Mascherano.
Mascherano.
Isn't he 24 though? Is it because he wasn't apart of the quals? Or that he's a Arg. Senior player? I think they should do away with the senior player rule, and give some other kids a chance.

Anyone born 1985 January 1st or after is eligible for the tourney. Anyone born earlier is labled a senior squad member status.

So it doesn't include players who were on the qualifying squad? What I mean is, they turn 24 this year but played the quals under 23.

I believe some players who were born 1984 were allowed to take part in the UEFA U21 Championship [which was conveniently used as the Olympic qualifers]. So for those who qualified out of UEFA, I think some of them meet the age 24 thing you are talking about. No other confederations used a tourney to select the qualifying teams.

The idea of the 3 overaged players was a deal reached between FIFA and COI. COI wanted to make it all seniors and FIFA rejected because they didnt want a parallel competition running up against the world cup. So the deal was 3 overaged players and everyone else was U23.

south america used a similar tournament to pick qualifying teams and i believe the players were under 20 or 21.

What a great team! I hope we not only put our best, but also a few players to test out! if Coco doesn't do well in these games, it might be the end for him! Argentina Deserves Gold with a roster like this!

Basile won't be hosting the team in the Olympics. It will be Sergio Batista.

That's actually how he looks when he's happy.. he'll put the same look if he's lifting a World Cup trophy..
