Did you get the latest update of the game before starting up? I would highly recommend you do if you haven't.

Argh, I didn't bother updating before I started, and then realized that I couldn't continue my game with the Revs on the new update. I'm going to start a new game with someone else when I go home today. I love the MLS rules in real life because they make the leage more entertaining, but they're incredibly irritating to deal with on FM.

Sorry for busting in on your boards, FM doesn't seem to get brought up that often in the MUFC board and Zinni posts more here than the does there. :D

This isn't the Soviet Union (aka the Chelski board). You don't have to worry about freedom of speech here. ;)

And everyone knows I'm a closet barcode anyway.

The patch doesn't make the game perfect but it fixes A LOT of the issues I was having with the game.

I just won the league for the first time with my Aston Villa team in the 2012-2013 season. I was buzzing!

I only tried MLS once when I did a game with Columbus. Played through a few games into the season, it was fun, but I didn't back up the save file when I reformatted my comp and I haven't bothered with any other games other than the Villa one. MLS would be a completely unique and fun challenge if they could ever get the league set up correctly.

There's no San Jose in this version, either.

Ah, good. I've got so many infraction points now I don't need any more. :

So I have 15 games to go in my second season (2008-09) and I'm ONE point behind Barcelona for the lead in La Liga. I'm also in the final 16 of the Uefa Cup (I finished sixth in the league last year) after cruising through the group stage and smashing Helsingborg. Got PSV in the second knockout round.

Anyway, I found Gabriel Torje, who I gather is a reasonably well-known player in FM08 circles. He's got nine goals and eight assists for me in 27 appearances this season. Not bad for a 19-year-old Romanian who's a utility player. Suffice it to say I've found a spot for him in my first XI.

Current setup:

GK: Oscar Ustari
LWB: Marcell Jansen
CB: Micah Richards, Petri Pasanen
RWB: Antonio Barragan
CDM: Danny Szetela
LAM: David Silva
CAM: Rafael van der Vaart
RAM: Gabriel Torje
CF: Mario Gomez, David Villa

Subs: Timo Hildebrand, Emiliano Moretti, Caneira, Aythami, Manuel Fernandes, Javier Arizmendi, Juan Manuel Mata

So I'm sitting in second in La Liga and in the quarters of the Uefa Cup, and the board decide not to renew my contract even though I'd overachieved by Valencia standards. So I started looking elsewhere before the season ended and they gave me a private note telling me to resign. So I tried to sell Villa as a big "******** you" to the board, and they blocked the move and sacked me. :D

Haha you have no luck in FM TD.

You're like a petulant Avram Grant.

Well, Valencia were pretty badly in the red so I figured selling Villa for 35 million would do the trick, but they didn't like that. Ah, well, on to some crappy League 1 or Scottish team. Though according to the press I'm linked to two Romanian teams even though I'm Welsh.

I got picked up by Siena, but the game crashed as I was saving so I had to find a job all over again. I'm now the manager at relegated Sheffield Wednesday, having to work my way back up from League One. Up the Owls! :o

EDIT: That game keeps crashing so I restarted as Newcastle until I can figure out why the Sheff Wednesday game keeps crashing. Wheeling and dealing all over the place in the transfer market, sacked half my coaches and hired new ones and took on three scouts. Oh, yeah, and there's a lot of player turnover too, as always.

So far, likely transfers for summer 2007

I actually bought him while he was out crocked so he hasn't played game for me. I'm sure it will get much worse. But the board loved that I drew at Chelsea and hammered the reserves in my final friendly, so I've got the vote of confidence!

I'm glad someone else does the First Team vs. Reserves match right before the season starts to get the morale up. :D

I might as well post my team for you to pick apart. Aston Villa 2012/13 season.

What happened now?

Went unbeaten in 11 games to get to 7th from rock bottom, but then lost four straight (including Coventry in the FA Cup) and got sacked. Bristol Rovers approached me immediately after getting the boot and I'm currently trying to keep them in League 1 (they were bottom when I came on).

I find it hard to believe how bad you are. I found a data update for the recent transfer window and started a new game with Newcastle.

As of Christmas, bI am sitting in 5th right now and coming up on the LC semi-final. I have made ZERO transfers, except cancelling Nacho's loan because he broke his arm. When the Jan window opens in a few days all I plan to buy is an attacking midfielder.

Wise won't let you... 2 players will just appear in your squad.

Must spread rep.

Anyway, speaking of Wise, I now manage Leeds as I wasn't able to get Rovers out of the drop and resigned at the end of the season. Except my game is doing that weird thing again where it randomly quits on the first update after I accept the new job. It did this last time too and I can't figure out what's wrong.

Do you have to most recent update from SI?

Have you edited any game data?
