So 2nd season in, about 20ish games and I sit in 6th. Just won the league cup, and have two games less played than 4th and 5th and down 4 and 3 points respectively. CL qualification is not out of the question. Still in the Euro Cup, 2nd round knockout vs Sampdoria.

My lineup is now a 4-4-2:

GK: Given
RB: Vanden Borre
CB: Kompany
CB: Marco Russ/Bouhlarouz
LB: Jose Enrique/ Jelle Van Damme
RM: Theo Walcott/Lua Lua
CM: Micah Richards
CM: Emre/ ACM Pjanic
LM: Milner
ST: Uche
ST: Arshavin/Pongolle

Richards as a C-mid? Wouldn't have thought of training him there.

Yeah, he's been fantastic in that position as well. 2nd season has ended with extreme delight and extreme disappointment. Finished 4th in the league and therefor qualified for the CL. However, got to the final of the Euro Cup only to lose in penalties to Lazio. Was winning 1-0 in the 88th minute...The ball is at Given's feet and he inexplicably clears it straight out for a throw in. The result, a Lazio goal from the first player to touch it after the throw in. So harsh and really deserved to win that game. I have a feeling this third season is going to be my downfall. I have no idea what the expectations are, but 4th was above where my teams is at now, and the CL will not prove to be easy.

I hate it when sh*t like that happens. I was leading Chelsea 2-1 at the bridge and was surprisingly hammering them, when in the 95th(!) minute Given punts his goal kick to midfield, Lampard heads it forward (with no sign of a contest for it), Drogba latches on with my defence nowhere to be seen and hammers it past Shay. My PC almost went out the window at that one.

Even got some smack talk from Grant after the game. Unfortunately there is no "tell Avram Grant he looks like a f*cking toad" option.

Am I the only one who has *ahem* anger issues with this game? I'll quite often swear at my PC.

Am I alone? Do I need to go to the Joey Barton school of proportionate reactions? How seriously do you take the game? I get pissed off when the fans get annoyed at a decent signing, or a not bad result (like losing 2-1 to Arsenal at the Emirates).

My mate woke his lass up at 2:30 in the morning to tell her he'd won the Champions' League, needless to say she wasn't as enthusiastic as he was. :D

I know this sounds bad...but I pretty much ignore my supporters. I figure I have done enough that they should be happy. I sign players I think will help the squad. More often than not...they come around. I signed a Brazilian teen, Sergio Mota as an 18 year old, sign him in your first season, and he has turned into a great player. The supporters were pissed in the beginning, but after seeing him play for a year they have hailed it as a great signing.

I know, thats the thing... they're wrong. Signed some kid on loan called Luponi (I think) value was £5m and I needed some cover up front, especially with CL games coming up. He's scored some really important goals in the league and the Carling cup and the whinging bastards think he's an "abberation". His "approval rating" was going up then he got injured for 2 months and the board tell me every month what a poor signing he is. I didn't even sign him! He's here on loan... and he's quite good! Ashley keeps accepting bids for players over my head too. He sold Taylor for £9m... then I had to spend £12m on a replacement.

Silentounce that kid is trying to play Unreal tournament or something.. its still funny though. I don't get that angry... just say "FFS" when I have 4 injuries in one game. I do spend a lot of time on on the bus thinking which left winger I should play in the important games though.

Its not like I put on a suit when I make a cup final either.

Oh, I know that, but it fit in so well with what you guys were talking about. You can find the actually translation rather easily.

And it was Sunderland.

So, I just got my ass whipped 10-4 on aggregate to Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey, then followed that up with a draw at home to Murcia in the league. How I haven't been sacked yet is beyond me. Currently fourth in La Liga, Sevilla just jumped me into third behind the two giants.

I had Dani Alves and Taye Taiwo signed, sealed and delivered but my board wouldn't fund the moves because we're down to an 8m balance from 19m when I started seven months ago or something. At any rate, Taiwo is still at Marseille but I lost Alves to Chelsea, buggers. Valencia will probably be broke at season's end the way I'm going. We'll see.

It’s the New Year in my first season as manager of Exeter City. I have sold only 1 guy and released another, but bought 12. I have rearranged almost the entire backroom staff, including having Rob Lee as a coach. Right now my overall record is 23-7-1 with 61 goals for and only 18 against. That includes the league, tournaments, and easy friendlies. I am first in the Conference right now with a 9 point lead and beat Doncaster in the FA Cup with Barnsley up next.

But like every time I start to dominate the game, it injures all my players. My leading scorer as 17 goals in 25 games and my primary back up striker has 10 goals in 12 starts and 6 subs appearances. So right now my two main strikers are both injured for a month or two, my AMC is acting as a striker, but is old and always tired.

So, getting down to the business end of the season, and things aren't going so well. I managed to reverse a 1-2 first-leg deficit against Liverpool to win at Anfield and get to the CL semifinals. I was fluctuating between 3rd and 4th in the league at the time so it looked like I was gonna be okay. Then I lose to two different teams that are in last place at the time I play them, as well as Sevilla and Atletico, get thrashed by Porto in the semis and POOF! Out of the CL and dropped from 4th to 6th in the space of three weeks, on the outside of Europe altogether.

I promptly begged the board for more time, feeling the heat, and they've apparently granted that request. Good thing, because I've signed some quality youth and cover players to address some problem areas and give me some much-needed depth and future talent infusion. We'll see if I'm around to see what happens at Valencia, though. Not feeling totally confident I'll last the close season.

Well this is so frustrating. Twice now I have lost the game on December 5th, 2009. I am 4th in the league, through to the first knockout round of the CL, in the semis of the LC and a great draw in the FA Cup. I think I might be resigned to having lost the entire game. The only thing I can try next is to quit as the manager of newcastle and hope the game gets past december 5th. What a bummer, I was doing so damn well and have spent so much time on the game.

So again my game has frozen on June 18, 2008. It's really starting to frustrate me and I can't seem to figure out why it's done it now on two completely separate "careers". Doesn't seem to be a common problem either as there's no threads that I can find dedicated to this problem.

Have you downloaded the latest updates?

Have you downloaded the latest updates?

I downloaded teh patch yesterday and it didn't seem to do anything. So I left it all night processing the update where it freezes up, just in case it was just a killer update that took more than 10 minutes to process, and that's what it was. It had updated by the time I got up this morning, so I dunno. Maybe Colin should try that too and see what happens. It's annoying but it seems to have worked (though I haven't actually played since then, just saved it so I Don't have that lame-ass update again).

If you go to the FM forums you'll find I started a thread with this exact problem. The update does seem to be the key to most issues, but I don't have the CD in DC. So I'm going to have to wait 10 days to get back to NY before I can do anything.

Hahahahahahah, wow. So I admitted to using a CD crack on the FM forums, which admittedly was a stupid idea, and got banned. Got this message:

You have been banned for the following reason:
Using No CD Crack

Date the ban will be lifted: Never

However, as I said in the thread, even in the post I admitted to it, the only reason I did so was because I had the cd at home and didn't bring it to school. Oh well.

Did you try just leaving it to update for a while? Seems to have addressed my issue (combined with the download).

So I finally hit the transfer window of the first close season, and I've wheeled and dealt my way to a solid squad that's two-deep at all positions.

Team A

Attacking midfielders: David Silva, Rafael van der Vaart, Javier Arizmendi
Holding midfielder: Sunny
Defenders: Marcell Jansen, Micah Richards, Ivan Ramis, Antonio Barragan
GK: Timo Hildebrand

Team B
Strikers: Obafemi Martins, Jozy Altidore
Attacking midfielders: Juan Manuel Mata, Manuel Fernandes, Gabriel Torje
Holding midfielder: Jerko Radic (or whatever his name is, from Monaco)
