Aside from warm milk, camomile tea & Valium, the next best thing to put you to sleep is watching the Italians play what they call- "football".:D

The most boring game, the biggest crybabies & whiners!

Plus, they show their lack of nerve & coolness in PKs (ok...they won ONE in the last 20 yrs...they've lost about 6 of the last seven)-

I don't know who has less "courage" . an Italian footballer or an Italian "soldier" in WW II. Wotan

I don't know which creature knows less about football and WWII, a donkey or Wotan.

Back to the game:

Cesc Fabregas' first penalty shot since he was 15 years old. A bit amazing.

If there were an early goal (from either team), we would have had a much entertaining match.

Unfortunately, it didn't happen.

Don't you guys just love the hate Italy gets? I mean, it's seriously great :)

I really would like to know why Del Piero wasn't among the 5 Italians to take a PK. What was Donadoni thinking?

He was to be the fifth.

Italy is a disgrace to the beautiful game.

It's unfair that stupid fans get to make their comments on the beautiful game.

Their tactics are cynical, their defensive MO is to rely on the ref not calling fouls in the penalty box, and they dive dive dive.

In the last world cup and independent panel counted the dives from each team respectively. Guess who beat out Italy? France, Brazil, Spain and Portugal...go figure.

Stereotypes are for ignorant people, you are one of many...

If everybody played like this Italian team does, basketball would be the most popular sport in the world.

Holland and Spain adopted Italian tactics. If Italy was defensive, so was Spain. In fact, Spain upgraded by doing so. But people in general are stupid, you are a perfect example. Spain could pass the ball a million times in the middle, and never penetrate and you'd think they played great attacking football. Why then, did Spain quickly coalesce 10 players in their own end when Italy was attacking? Maybe, just maybe they picked up a thing or two.

Similarly, a panel of independent analysts counted fouls form the last world cup. Italy was in the top 2 teams that had the most fouls committed against them, and in the bottom 4 of teams that committed fouls.

Thank gawd Italy is gone from this tournament.

But of course. You'd have probably gotten another ulcer if Italy won from all your hate.

Why would the presence of Pirlo & Gattuso made a big difference?

Pirlo is the metronome of the midfield. He links the defense and the attack. This is a stupid question. Gattuso has a heart of a lion and his presence would have made the Spanish forwards a bit more cautious. It happens.

After all, they were regulars on a 5th place AC Milan squad.

There are 9 other players on AC, you do know that right? AC's defense and goalkeeper were very poor last season, even if Pirlo and Gattuso were not in the best of form either, they are two key pieces to the puzzle.

If you could somehow convince your Daddy to pay for tickets to a Milan match, I would like for you to go up to Gattuso and spit on him, or get your Daddy to do it for you. We'll see something about courage.

I'll bet that strikes fear into a people!

Oh, and one more thing. If you ever want to turn a curious soul away from the beautiful game, just sit them in front of a TV when Italy is playing. Trust me, it works every time.

Ehhmm...the italian team have won 4 world cup titles, 1 gold olympic medal, 1 european cup...

please, before to talk....connect the brain!

IN THE LIFE NOBODY CAN WIN FOREVER!

Who really hates Brazil? It's all about Italy's tactics and diving... period

Nobody can ever criticize Italy for diving and mention Brazil in the same sentence... EVER!

Hey, all keep it cool, don't be asking to get in trouble here, there aren't that many of us here really.

I can sum up what I was writing last night, but it got way to long.

All teams have their rivals, 49ers - Cowboys - Redskins , Raiders - Broncos and I have rooted against Brazil too: but guys like Ronaldinho and Ronaldo do come off as good guys.

Then, there have been winning franchises that many people have come to hate, not neccessarily me. Why do they call them "Damn Yankees", Duke basketball, there is even some website for Duke haters, I will say, I don't root for them against about anyone but I don't hate them.

Just two examples, the old aura of the Oakland-Los Angeles-Oakland Raiders has incurred the spite of many, like Bronco Fans (No, I am not). A lot of that was based on how the Raiders were perceived to play.

Look how everyone, and some people very emotionally, wanted the Patriots to lose the Superbowl, passionate about them not having that perfect season and not just Dolphins fans because the Pats looked to be one of the best NFL teams ever.

There are examples of winners both liked and others, where one feels indifferent about them like the Celtics, however many championships they've now chalked up, it isn't that big of a deal.

Wow, Donadoni has been let go according to the BBC: I wouldn't celebrate, you can't expect the world every time...I know most people have been criticizing him and perhaps Italy's play in the quarters wasn't that great but they were playing a team that was trying to overcome a hoodoo against them, that had their troubles in the quarters often and that were also many people's favorite to win this and only went out on a shootout which I've never reconciled to myself as a true win for whomever. A team did not lose a game, they only lost the shootout but it's got to be decided one way or another.

I don't think they should have acted so rashly if the story is so. One thing I don't like about Italian football, they've got to scapegoat the coach here, the public probably demands it, they've got to win too much. I feel sorry for him. Sven in England got caught up in the tabloids, McClaren's goalkeeper messed up royally. It isn't always the coaches fault.

What a moronic analogy! For me, a 63 year old guy to spit on ANY athlete, in his 20s , 30s, 40s or whatever, would be downright idiotic!

And, for you to use that.....as a "Sign of COURAGE".....(his punching a semi invalid 63 yr old guy out) shows you really can't think of areas of life that take true.."courage"!

I think you better get an idea of.....what a good analogy is of anything...let alone courage! I don't think clobbering me.......would take much courage from anyone! Hell.....i wouldn't spit on Mia Hamm, she'd deck me with one punch! Is that.."courage"! That was,,,"bad"....man. bad! Wotan!

The fact is that he could ahve retained his work just if he won the euro.
He was chosen in july/august 2006 after Lippi quit. He was chosen by a chief of FIGC which is no more, mnr. Rossi, together with ALbertini. Now rossi is gone and we have Abete asd chief of the federation, Albertini is vice-president but he is not as important as he was in the immediate post-Berlin. The "new" federation is closer to the old federation before the Moggi-referee scandal. And Donadoni was never their coach. the coach of an old establishment, different from Moggi's one, but who co-existed with that for years.
This new has been denied by the federation an hour ago or so... but it seems just a matter of time. Probably they are having some troubles with Lippi's new contract. matter of money.
