No I admit my team is weak.
And we played as such.
Can you get it?
you would have played the same way with pirlo and co back the only difference is you would have probably won playing that cantcrap football:cool:

Why would the presence of Pirlo & Gattuso made a big difference? After all, they were regulars on a 5th place AC Milan squad.
Also, many comments about Toni are uninformed and unfair. He has been a consistent goal scorer in both Serie A and the Bundesliga. His superb bring down in the penalty area led to a penalty kick and goal. He had a perfectly good goal mistakenly called back due to an incorrect offside call.
He would be far from the first excellent player to have had a poor tournament.

It seems like really you can't understand. Italy is actually weaker than Spain also with Pirlo and the others players. We would have played that way because that is the only way a weaker team can manage to win. Do you get it?
I mean, here nobody likes being trashed 3-0 by any team. that's a thing good for minor footballing nations. Nations who can try to play attacling football against stronger opponent beacuse they will lose 3-0 anyway. It's not for us. In this euro we already lost to a team which is actually better than us 3-0 because we tried to play in a manner which we couldn't. we also suffered 2 goals on cunter. That's not good. It's good for the Usa, the Canada, the Togo, the Saudi Arabia, even the occasional mid table european or south american teams of this world. Simply is not for us.
Now you get it?

The presence of Pirlo would have made a difference. We would still have been inferior to Spain, because they run, we walk, but counter-attacking would have had more precision and timing... And the set pieces?

Have Luca Toni, Di Natale and that other player recovered from the injuries that forced play to stop? Let us hope they recover as well as Panucci did from the injury in the Netherland match. Panucci's "injury" backfired, didn't it?
It is interesting that Italian injuries so often occur when they are being threatened. ;)

Pirlo is Italy's midfield. When hes not there you can see just how bad it was.
This is the problem with this tournament and with AC Milan, we have no one to replace him when hes not there.

Yes, but as was said with the Greeks of '04 and the Italians of '06: they won as a team.
I would also think, teams like Italy don't rely on one man too much, even if it is Pirlo. That they would have some backup that could fill his position competently while not being a perfect replacement.
Spain indeed, was fighting tooth and nail, history and a champion who didn't want to go down.
Both teams played a lot not to lose: Puyol was excellent on defense as was Ramos.
El Cid is a Spanish epic: and this game was an epic "absorbing" as one of the mods aptly said contest.

Also the presence of cannavaro, nesta and totti would have made a difference. but one was out with injury and the other two retired from the NT. anyway, we had to play with the players we had and with the (sh1tty) form they had.
You said it right. never saw an italian team with such a poor form. I hoped they got better progressing but they were still poor, maybe even worse.
and Pirlo is Pirlo. the best deep lying playmaker in the world. even when he is not on form he still contributes greatly to our game.
I also find amusing people stopping being a fan because they don't like the tactics of a match... way to show how they don't get what a fan is. a football fan is a football fan no way he can ever quit being a fan of the team. It just goes to show they were never fans... sympathizers maybe...

That's not fair to your guys! I think you played very solidly resp. pretty well against Romania & France, creating many scoring opportunities.
Last night you had to replace an important midfielder and played too defensively instead of risking more against this vulnerable Spanish defence. Donadoni obviously wanted the pk shooting, knowing about Gigi's qualities ... but it didn't work in the end (he should have known that Casillas knows how to save pk's as well). It's always dangerous to rely on a pk shooting ... unless you are German! ;)

Italy is a disgrace to the beautiful game. Their tactics are cynical, their defensive MO is to rely on the ref not calling fouls in the penalty box, and they dive dive dive. If everybody played like this Italian team does, basketball would be the most popular sport in the world.
Thank gawd Italy is gone from this tournament.Well ts obvious you're a speech writer for Borak lol :p

Do you think people just randomly picked Italy to start hating on, or what? I think 4 stars on the jersey might have something to do with it.

I saw all of this from the Spanish team too in yesterday's game. Do you have any comments about them or is this just another 4 STAR hatred towards a team you are jealous of.

Its easy to hate teams like Italy that find ways to be competitive without having a Pele in their ranks.
The perpetuated myth is not that Italy doesn't dive or use defensive strategies but that other footballing powers don't do exactly the same thing. Only difference is Italy has had more success.

Aside from warm milk, camomile tea & Valium, the next best thing to put you to sleep is watching the Italians play what they call- "football".:D
The most boring game, the biggest crybabies & whiners!;)
Plus, they show their lack of nerve & coolness in PKs (ok...they won ONE in the last 20 yrs...they've lost about 6 of the last seven)-
I don't know who has less "courage" . an Italian footballer or an Italian "soldier" in WW II. Wotan
