Agreed, the Turkish soccer mentality is attack and attack
Hmmm, so why didn't I see you attack against Portugal, Croatia and in the first half against Switzerland & the Czech Rep.? :p ;)
You have not seen their best play yet. They will bring that to the Germany game.
Hey, please don't scare me! :-)
Everyone thinks this will be a cakewalk for the Germans...
Who told you that?
My biggest concern is the police at the public viewings in all big towns...hopefully there will be enough, otherwise weŽll have a "civil war" in Germany!
C'mon, stop exaggerating! Of course there'll be some idiots among both fanships ... but I bet that 95 % of the public viewing fans won't cause any trouble after the game!

even the version of Turkey that comes out should be stronger than Austria who Germany struggled with.
What a shame that Croatia & Poland struggled as well with them...
According to your bright logic, we should beat Turkey with 3 goals difference ... since they lost 0:2 to Portugal who was beaten 2:3 by Germany.
I totally respect this Turkish team and know that we'll have to play very well and fight hard in order to beat them. I don't think we'll underestimate them due to their injury & suspension problems...

No, that's according to your twisting of his "bright logic."
I understand what you are getting at, but your twisting of his comments doesn't make your comments any better than his.

See? That would have covered it right there! LOL!! ;)
Just kidding around. I've never been one to skirt a comment.

Look around Uwe. The arrogant German fans here at BigSoccer are not hard to find. I know you aren't one of them.

I agree with you. Maybe even more like 98%. I know I plan to do Public Viewing down here to enjoy it even more.

*Looks* ... Goes to mirror.. :o To be fair footy, for this certain game it's more of being realistic than arrogant. Had Germany been missing 10 players going to semis to play a team like Portugal or Russia, I would 98% sure they would lose. There are simply way too many things going against Turkey at this point, simply too many. It would be for me the most incredible (shock)win over the last 2 decades in major international tournaments due to who Turkey is and how many players they have missing from this game.

Turkish team news:
Volkan appeal rejected (http://www.euro2008.uefa.com/news/kind=1/newsid=726365.html#volkan+demirel+appeal+rejected)
That's too bad... Well that settles the question we would have had about Volkan versus Rustu.
That is, which one would have been in goal and which one would have had to play center forward.
:p
This team, this coach have completely stolen my heart.

I agree turkey will sitback and hope for a lucky break
I believe this too. Turkey only played attacking football after they fell behind (which happened to be always)

Although being German, I don't understand UEFA's decision to ban him for 2 games! I don't think that Volkan did anything worse than Schweinsteiger (who was banned only for 1 game)...

I actually went back to the gym. Man, that hurt! :D
I'd rather be lifting beers in front of a football match on wide-screen than weights in a hot gym.

And there is a reason they actually play the games. They don't just cancel the match because Turkey is short-handed.
I'm not saying Turkey will win, but I am saying you write these men off at your own peril.
And when I say "arrogant German fans", I certainly mean more than just this match.
I didn't mean everyone, but as I told Uwe, they aren't hard to find here.

Well you empahsised it now for the second time, maybe you should back it up. I am on this board for quite a while now and I havent noticed too much arrogance. And I am somewhat anoyed of this constant accusation of our fans, which doesnt realy corelate with reality.

As I said, they aren't hard to find.
Last time I checked, I don't see where I have to "back up" anything to you.
Either you agree or you don't. I don't give a rat's ass either way.
The people I'm referring to know who they are.

well the style of your reply could also be considered as arrogance. I am realy not suprised. But let's get back to the topic.

well the style of your reply could also be considered as arrogance. I am realy not suprised. But let's get back to the topic.
The style of my reply is all in how you take it. I'm just being straight with you. I stated my opinion. Nothing says I have to "prove" it to you. What I perceive as "arrogance", you might not.
You might feel my opinion is baseless. That is your right. However, what you feel about my opinion doesn't bother me one way or the other.
If that is "arrogance" to you, then I'm guilty as charged. Just as some of the things I've seen from certain Germany fans throughout this tournament strikes me as "arrogance."
But again, I really don't care. I'm not here for your approval and you're entitled to think what you want.
If you don't understand what I'm saying, that might bother me, but I don't need your approval.
You were right on when you said let's get back to the topic.

Agreed, the Turkish soccer mentality is attack and attack creatively as we have tremendous midfielders that double up as scorers in ahurry. You have not seen their best play yet. They will bring that to the Germany game. Tuincay and Arda are huge losses, but the Turks are not crying or hiding behind that. Gokdeniz, Ugur and Ayhan are totally capable of creating fits for the Germans.
Everyone thinks this will be a cakewalk for the Germans...everyone but the German team ! They know what they are up against. I predict a 2-1 score for Turkiye.
And by the way, I expect no problems in after game celebrations. The Turkish Germans living in Turkey love and respect their "second" country as well. They will voicefully support the Germans in the final (in case Germany goes thru)--of course most of them would want Turkiye to be the victors first.
May the best team win....Go Turkiye!;)
Nice post, and I agree that we will propably see the best Turkish team this tournament. And this is saying something after the Switzerland and Czech game. Mainly, because they have nothing to loose anymore, which paired with their never-give-up-attitude and talented players makes them a really, really dangerous side. Especially Altintop will be dangerous, and his shots are something Lehman should fear. But we will see...
And I agree that there won't be much trouble should Germany win. My biggest concern is, what will happen when Turkey WINS? That's the real question, cause I doubt that all Germans will be able to accept defeat. :(
Although, imo the press completely overreacts with their concerns, and no matter what happens it won't be as bad as they 'hope'.
Nevertheless, this will be a highly interesting evening!

Spiegel.de has posted an interview with Hamit Altintop (in German). I was hoping they'd post a translation in their English section, but no such luck so far.
Anyway, here's the link:

Schweinsteiger was fouled 2 times harshly by the player he pushed, only seconds before he lost his head.
Volkan just lost his head without any reason.
