Crap! I bet there was some match fixing during the TV problems ;) .

I'm upset, but Turkey put on a great show and full marks to them. They held a far more superior (on paper) German side for so long and made it so interesting at the end AGAIN.

Love that team! They didn't win anything, but they sure did earn a lot of respect from a lot of football/soccer fans, I reckon!

GOOO RUSSIA (I guess :()

Its not quite like that. They only have room for so many announcing teams in the stadium and the US isn't going to get in over a European nation for a European tournament.

Then use an international feed!

But I guess ESPN needs an excuse to keep dead weight like Foudy and Smyth employed.

Anyone else noticed an injured Turk on the final German Goal? Maybe a little sportsmanship, fairplay would have been nice?

Kazim was well behind the play by the time anyone would have realized he wasn't getting up. I can't really fault anyone for not stopping in that situation. It's a little different than if he down was in the box and Lahm ran right by him to score.

No, he's saying ESPN are cheap for not sending announcers to the actual countries.
And that's a load of crap.

No way could ESPN have predicted that weather problems in Switzerland would have caused problems with the video feed in the US.

they shouldnt do it anyway, they should play to the refs whistle

Not even slightly. I'm only saying that they should have had their crew at the stadium in the first place, and if they had, we could have had oral PBP during the blackouts. Would they ever try to broadcast the Super Bowl from Bristol?
There's no way ESPN could have predicted weather problems.

Hind sight is 20/20.

Almost half of ESPN's broadcast team is Irish/Scottish to begin with, just snare some English play by play that we can understand as a safety measure, one would think it could be done...

That's funny especially since they proclaim themselves to be the worldwide leader in sports.

This sucks! Now I have to cheer Canada in WC Qualifiers in August, and I'm hoping for some better news ;) .

To be fair, there has been some terrible weather for this tournament at times.
