Galaxy have been sending out emails recruiting kids for their team. I read that New England is doing the same. Neither of these have Academy teams that I knew of. I think DC won last year and I believe the Fire are sending a team and assume Colorado will have one since they are in Denver. I'm assuming other Academy clubs like Red Bull, Chivas, Crew will be sending teams as will Houston since they sent a team to Dallas cup. Any others?

I read that New England is doing the same. Neither of these have Academy teams that I knew of.The Revs established their own Academy earlier this year:

Here's some more info on the SUM Cup:

And the groups, thanks to FC Dallas' blog:

The preliminary SUM U-17 Cup schedule is as follows:
July 4 – Round Robin Matchday 1
July 5 – Round Robin Matchday 2
July 7 – Round Robin Matchday 3
July 8 – Semi Finals
July 10 – Final

Group A: D.C. United, Colorado (A), Houston, Chicago.
Group B: Kansas City, Toronto, Colorado (B), New England.
Group C: FC Dallas, Chivas USA, Columbus Crew.
Group D: Los Angeles, Real Salt Lake, New York.

Since Groups C and D have three teams, each team will play a team from the other group to round off group play.

Great info, thanks. I knew New England had made announcements and were starting to put together a team. But since it was just May, I didn't really consider it an established program. Also found it interesting that Colorado is fielding two teams when their Academy teams are one of the few that are struggling with a losing record. It should be interesting to see how these teams do in the Dallas Cup Super group next year.
