yeah, I play this one called sunday league. Its kinda like a football management type game… its all a bit of a laugh really– like sometimes your players don’t turn up to games cause they’re in the pub – stuff like that. But you can actually win some half decent prizes…. Check out the website: sundayleague.com…
my mate’s brother used to work for them and there’s this code CRE180901 that you can enter as a promotional code when you register – so you can get free credits... only works when you register though

For online try WorldEliteSoccer.com.
There is a waiting list that is not very long and you manage a team in one of eight regions. You can make a request for a specific city (there are no real life teams i.e. Manchester United, but there is a Manchester). You control every aspect of the game from style of play to management. It is an excellent game and it is free.
For computer based games, I always loved Soccer Management Simulator. It is not graphically driven like Championship Manager, not even close. It is a no frills game. It is based on the English Premier League (from about 3-4 years ago for players)but there are enough editing tools to create your own league (I believe it has to have a similar structure to the EPL). Plus, WOSOMAN is another management game that is not as graphically inclined as championship manager.

EA makes a Footy Manager called Total Club Manager, I believe the next one will be TCM 2004 with integration into FIFA 2004.

There are some good ones out that aren't CM.
Sick as a Parrot (www.machoward.com) is a very good one and is the exact opposite of CM while it is still a SMG.
Statto Soccer Manager (www.stattosoftware.com) isn't out yet but it will be freeware when it is out, but it only has the EPL.
For a full list visit sgh.soccergaming.com.

Hmm, I just registered, and I only have 100 credits. And you really can't do much of anything without at least 500, looks like.

Sick as a Parrot (SaaP) is a totally different approach to the smg although Oliver Collyer has said the original was the inspiration to the Collyers to write their first CM. It's a role playing game rather than a numeric strategy game and gives a much greater control over the performance of the team and players.
You can best get a feel for SaaP from the user forum and in particular the game playing tips which reveal the depth of management control:

Have you ever tried www.hattrick.org? I've played since May 2001, and have found it to be highly addictive, with a great in-game community to boot.

Of all the online games I have played, hatrick is the best. I tried wes, but it got too frustrating and it was a bit unrealitic. Rather dull too I might add.
hattrick is more stupid funny with more of an equal chance to do something. Plus the results are 110% better. :)
