brazil's away jersey not havin a badge of the federation (why?)

If you're referring to the Olympics, it's because the IOC does not allow national governing bodies to have their crest on jerseys during the Olympics. You see some teams, like Japan, wearing a patch of their nation's flag instead of their crest. Others, like Brazil and the U.S., leave their jerseys blank.

Those teams you see that include their crest, IIRC, are subject to IOC fines.

I love the fact that Brazil will never again wear a white kit b/c of superstition.

Superstitious of what?

I'm not sure it's "superstition," per se, but here's the history of their current kits as I understand:

In the first few years of their confederation, they used a number of different looks (their first kit had red on the sleeves, and a few years later, they actually wore an all red top. they also experimented with yellow and black(?) stripes, according to the all knowing wikipedia).

In the 1950 World Cup, played in Braizl, they reached the final, but lost to Uruguay. After the match, their all-white kit with blue trim was criticized for lacking patriotism (although I've never seen anyone actually blame the kit for the loss). As a result, they basically held a design competition, seeking a uniform using all four colors of the flag, and the winner was a yellow shirt-green trim blue shorts-white trim combo, which has evolved into its current form.

The blue away kit was established in 1958. Brazil met Sweden in the WC final, and since the match was in Sweden, they got to choose which color they would wear. They wore their home yellow. Brazil apparently didn't bring an alternate kit, so they went out, bought blue shirts, removed their badges from their yellow kits, and sewed them onto the new blues.

Of course, 1958 was their first World Cup title, so they kept the blue as their alternate.

I don't remember which match but during a broadcasted match I remember the commentators going off on a long a detailed story about Brazil and the reason they gave was that a lose was blamed on the white tops and now due to superstition they haven't worn them since.

Diadora's recycling old templates. Shirt is from two years ago and shorts are from last season. Not that I think they're bad looking.

It doesnt take effect straight away. It doesnt come into effect until 2011 so you will still be seeing france in adidas for a few years to come.
