youngster going abroad

I'm certainly no expert on the youth team. So my opinion is only based on what I've seen of Smith in a few games for QPR on videos at our club here when he was on loan. He came across as a good young player.

It appears to me that the injury last season interfered with his progress and when he returned he played in right midfield which apparently is not his best position. I believe he played a number of games in defence for the reserves last season.

So my question what does the club see in him that he can still make it at Chelsea?

Randy,

I agree that Jimmy had a nice season on loan with QPR as did Manicenne, but I dont know if he has enough to move onto the next level. He is 21 now and has several youngsters playing in his position who appear to closer to move to the first team than Jimmy (ie Jack Cork). From what I understand and have seen he played in central defence but is hardly a big lad and I believe that Mancienne and many others would be ahead of him in the pecking order.

I would not be suprised to see Jimmy stay with a Championship side after a loan spell and perhaps Wednesday may be his next employer.

Randy I believe the first page of this thread has a link to a good site in regards to the Reserves and Youngsters. Check it out its a very good site.

Also check in with adri and okocha as they are very knowledgable on both subjects.

Ryan Bertrand loaned to Norwich until Jan.

This will most likely become a year long loan.

Good news for Ryan and as expected he returned to Norwich.

Johan is busy disagreeing with Rick B on the Zimbabwe situation in the politics forum, never mind the fact that Rick happens to live in Zimbabwe.

If Scolari’s first job is to whittle down the squad from an unwieldy 33 — he promises a one-in, one-out policy once the numbers are right — his next is to survey Chelsea’s academy for fresh talent. “Carlos Pracidelli, our goalkeeping coach, will go three days every week to look at the training in the academy because if he sees a player doing well, he will tell me and I’ll bring him into the senior set-up,” he said. “Ask Palmeiras from Brazil how many 17, 18 and 19-year-olds I put in the first team. They’re all in Europe now. We have some young players at Chelsea that, maybe, will play some important games for us this season.”

Nice pull Pete - I like the sound of that. If they're good enough give them a chance (just hope the baby-eater and co have some patience).
