We are the 2nd worst offense in SA at the moment

why???

lack of strikers??

shit formation (#10)

ultra defensive coach???

I think its more down to us wanting to play with a #10 which is not working for us, we think our strongest player is Zuniga but from what I saw against Ecuador we had 2 free kick chances that Bustos could have put in the net.....

Like it or not Bustos no matter whats going on in brazil should start every game and minute on the NT be it at RB,LB, #10 or Striker as our #10 doesnt do shit so why not just put in bustos as #10 so he can at least do something when time comes...

Bustos is an option, crzd. Not the answer. The problem is that Bustos only does one thing well and sucks at the others (defending, crossing, passing). Sounds incredible that a guy with such accuracy and power on a free kick can't produce a decent cross or long pass, but that's the way things are.

However, I will keep him in the NT and I will use it as a substitute on a winger or lateral midfielder position, and then instruct our skilled players to concentrate the action near the area to create free kick options. As you can see, designing all this strategy and acknowledging that for every other aspect of the game you will have basically one player less, hurts the team.

On the other hand, I saw a formation 4-3-1-2 that we used at the end of Ecuador game worked pretty damn well... Only adjustment I'd make would be Amaya as the center midfielder and Guarin on the right.

--------------Julio
Zuniga---Moreno--Mosquera--Gonzalez
Guarin-------Amaya---------Sanchez
---------Giovanni (The Prince)
-----------------------Dayro
--------Rodallega

Bustos could be subbed for Sanchez or Gonzalez, depending on how much defense is needed in the left wing and we will have super subs in Macnely, Falcao and Escobar. Soto is still far from being in the same form of 4 years ago.

The last two things you said.

We're still playing with 1 man in the middle who does not defend and we rel on him for all attacking purposes. Once he's been marked well all our chances go to hell. Also it seems as if the wing midfielders are told to not go too far in to their attack. As bad as our wing defenders are it seems that the first priority is to defend.

How can our forwards score if it's 3 guys when we have 2 forwards, or 2 guys like last night against Ecuador vs. 4-8 defenders and the rest of the team chearing them on?

We have to get used to Pinto playing defense first. Making sure we're not scored on. Then maybe if we have chances then go up and try to score but while still being careful.

So basically it's the system...

We we've played in Bogota we've been more offensive but not to the point where we'll see our mids creating plays. You screw up a defense and create room for your forwards by having other people come up and attack cause now the defenders have to worry about more people.

So the issue is the way we're playing. Once we play more aggressively we'll see if the forwards are also contributing to that.

Exactly. When Wason comes back, Rodallega (who doesnt deserve the stick he hes sick) finally puts away the chances, Dayro Moreno plays and Falcao gets his rhythm were gonna start scoring.

Since Venezuela friendly, weve seen 1 goal in 4 games. uff.

........................Amaya......Sanchez (Guarin)

Roda (renteria)............falcao (pino).............Moreno

................................Renteria

pero, es mas probable la siguente formacion de 4-3-3:

Sanchez................Amaya...............Guarin

Falcao..................Roda (ruke).........Moreno

there is Gio Moreno.... and Arango(if pinto wasnt a dumbass and didnt put him at LCM

Think taht could fix our scoring drought they might not be able to do stupid Pibe Valderamma passes that um HASNT WORKED SINCE HE LEFT !!!

but they can score and set up alot of plays

National Teams should be based on best teams in your league like Ecuador basically using Quito.... we were using Tolima-Nacional but both those teams are garbage now and then we replaced tolima with Cucuta but that team is crap too.... think we need to go and look at America de Cali and Equidad

thats what pinto said when he came on board, and also that he would bring in youth players just to show them the team and that stopped....

Qualifiers and circumstances change all the time. Every match is different. And although Pinto annoys me, the idea is to build a team 'de memoria'. It takes a while to build a team..any team (see Argentina). Qualifiers are based on who can gel faster. While I like players like Arango, the team mentality is what needs to improve. Bunkering down while playing away is not a bad tactic, maybe not pretty football, but not a bad tactic.

The issue becomes how to change gears in matches where when bunkering you counter attack and finish accordingly. The Ecu-Col showed a very good Colombia for the last 25 minutes. To me, it's about communicating that opportunity when it shows itself from minute 0 to the end of the match not in the last 25 minutes only. We actually did it versus Bolivia, and then when the opportunity presented itself to finish off teh match Pinto made a defensive move. However, have to give him a little credit v Ecuador because WE ALL expected another def midfielder/defender in at the beginning of the 2nd half and instead he places Gio + Moreno and almost won his bet.

I agree with most of this statement. The only thing I would change is to say that flexibility is a core issue too. You have 3 years of games and conditions change after every matchday. Just to use Colombia as an example:

1st match: Team in rebuilding mode, public anxious about Pinto and afraid of Brasil potential.
2nd match: Team afraid of altitude and trying to prevent the catastrophe of last WCQs
3rd match: Expectations on the rise, but public still happy with a good performance.
4rd match: A win is a must now against a difficult Venezuela.
5th match: Expectations high due to Colombia's positive streak and Peru's poor performance of late. Two key players unavailable because of yellow card, two more because of injury.
6th match: A lot of pressure on Pinto. Two more key players injured.

The issue becomes how to change gears in matches where when bunkering you counter attack and finish accordingly. The Ecu-Col showed a very good Colombia for the last 25 minutes. And without pretending to be a Pinto yes-man, sometimes coaches have epiphanies and find the best formation in the mos unusual way. That 4-3-1-2 with 3 very defensive midfielders worked pretty well within the major plan which was bunkering and counter-attacking. Look for more of this same line-up...

Is anyone else excited about Dayro Moreno starting games from now on? I think that's starting to become the consensus amongst the Pinto camp.
