I saw despair in Snjeider's eyes when he just missed that shot.

Are the Dutch already beaten??

No way, the Dutch have the pace and the ability to grab a goal at any time.

I'm not the only one who thinks he is a bad ref, well on these forums I seem to be but on other places I am not the only one.

I brought up the bad referee because he is in fact making bad decisions, not as bad as the (Swedish?) referee 4 years ago and the red card happy one we had 2 years ago, a game everybody probably remembers

doesn't matter if others think he's a bad ref. today, he's being fair.

but seriously. blame the players before blaming the ref.

The first time you mentioned the ref

Every time Holland get kicked out of a tournament they have a retarded referee.

So holland is out now.

That implies that if the Dutch go out, it will be because of bad refereeing.

So far, I've not seen this referee get anything wrong in this match. Not a single thing.

You, being Dutch, see it differently.

seems to me, you are just looking for an excuse if your team gets eliminated

exactly. that first post implies that the ref is responsible for what it looks a dutch elimination.

This is such a dramatically different Dutch side than from the group stages. Seems like the entire team bought into their own hype.

very different.

and they set the tone for themselves by playing conservatively for the majority of the first half, while russia came with an intent to attack.

That about sums it up.

Hard to believe that this is the same team that made both Italy and France look silly.

Hah, well, the ref 2 years ago didn't handle that situation well, but I lost a ton of respect for both Dutch and Portuguese soccer that day. The players deserved every bit as much of the blame as the ref, and during that game, I decided to do the unthinkable in the quarterfinals: cheer for England.

The referee today hasn't been perfect, but he's been good.

And as I type this, the Dutch equalize.
