Hiddink has taught Russians to play Dutch-style football. And they're very good pupils, but also very young and inexperienced on international level (all play in Russian league but one). So I would put the masters above the pupils. Holland wins 3:1.

Sorry, of course I meant:

Hiddink has taught Russians to play Dutch-style football. And they're not only very good pupils, but becoming new masters. So I would put this new masters above the Dutch pupils. Russia wins 3:1. :D

BTW, congratulation to Russians, If Croatia can't win this tournament, because they are plain stupid, I hope that Russia makes it from all heart! They absolutely deserve it!

Now Russian Mafia won't let Guus go and USA has no chance to have him as coach.

They were talking about his strenuous fitness program, I've never get gotten how fat guys can come off credible in teaching fitness. Either they bought into his history, or he threatens them to lick his sweaty manboobs if they don't comply!

Hiddink is greatest coach of all time!

(And the luckiest). Just remember, if we (Croatia) had not beaten England on Wembley Russians would not even be here.

Meanwhile I really think that there must be something above manhood, some divine plan must exist, there is always a reason for something, this reason we don't see immediately but one day it becomes clear why it had to be so and no other.

I just want to know what was this "higher" reason we lost to Turkey this cruel and unbelievable way, which happens once in 100 years, eventually. I'm sure there must be something "behind" it. It had to be so.

i've heard about this too (that is, the strenous fitness program. the manboobs i can see for myself)- IIRC, south korea complained of their players being overworked prior to their opening games in '02

Maybe the "Group of Death" was just over-hyped. Maybe Italy and France are just dreadful teams at this point, and Romania not any better, and that made the Dutch look like champs.

If tomorrow Spain spanks the Italians, we'll know that was likely the case.

So who thought the Russians had any kind of chance against the Dutch before this game started? I certainly did not.

I told my son before the match the final score would be 3-1, but in favor of Holland. I also mentioned to a soccer buddy of his not to be so enamored of Holland that they always disappoint. I thought it would happen in the semi's or finals.

Van Basten should have considered Roben.

Arjen Robben aka "The Glass Man" was injured.

Seriously, STFU about the ref. He's excellent. And you're an idiot.

I've got to say that Lubos Michel was crap today. He was inconsistent in his foul calls and I think that Holland has a lot to gripe about. Because a majority of decisions that appeared to me to be fouls went against Holland. It was surprising. Also, Michel and his jr AR made a meal of the Caution non-caution on Kolodin. Was the ball over for a goal kick or was it in? The AR was still running to the corner flag when the ball was at the goal line.

In football, the psychological factor is important. The Portuguese are usually defeated by the Germans, so they came out expecting defeat and they got just that.

The Croats tend to have bad luck, so they got exactly their bad luck. And today the Dutch remembered they always choke before the semis and they did.

Tomorrow the Spanish will dominate Italy until they remember they are supposed to shoot themselves in the foot, and they'll score an own goal and that will be it.

It's just a bunch of self-fulfilling prophecies.

Yeah, and You know what is most amazing?

If we had the same matches tomorrow, it could be exactly the other way round.
That's the fascination of football!
