In the replay it seems that there could be a foul committed by Ballack in the third goal.

There was a little bit of a shove.

What do you mean? I haven't seen anything that could qualify as a dive in the second half so far. By neither team.

Ronaldo went down easily, IMO. But the 2nd has been better than the first.

Looked like a foul to me. I don't know if the defender would have gotten his head to the ball even without the push, but Ballack really isn't allowed to do that.

Looked like a push on the Portugese defender.

Portugal's never going to score with those hasty selfish attempts from nowhere.

Agreed. They should keep the ball on the ground and play with more patience.

I don't know why some people are so surprised at the result.

Portugal may have looked good getting results against little teams like Turkey and the Czech Republic, but they didn't really go up against a team that had a good enough attack to play with.

Portugal's defense was a ticking time-bomb, and the Germans knew exactly how to exploit it. Certainly not the best German game, but they knew what to do to get the job done and they accomplished it.

And that is why the Germans are in the semifinals now (save any miracles by Portugal).

I think I've said this before, but I'll state it again. I'm sure that Germany has the best scouting system out there. They know exactly how to get to their opponents...and Poldi with an awesome shot as I write this...

But it's not like Germany had an especially potent attack in the group stage.

No they did not.

I didn't see more than five shots the whole game from Germany.

Yet they managed to successfully exploit three of them because of Portuguese inabilities in defense.

Portugal has horrible finishing, so they haven't really been able to make up for that up front at all.

Pitiful.

Now, time for some Lehmann acting. Not sure why he was clutching his head first.
