Great Game España!!!!

It's all history! Adios Italy, couldn't win with the aid of the referee!

REMEMBER LUIS ENRIQUEZ!

"It is the face that celebrates 80-odd years of grudges, gripes and indignation. It is the photograph of Luis Enrique, the Spain international, his mouth dripping so much blood it is as if he had just finished the main course at a vampire feast.

The picture was taken shortly before the end of the 1994 World Cup quarter-final in Boston between Italy and Spain. Contesting a corner, Luis Enrique’s face had just been rearranged by the elbow of Italy defender Mauro Tassotti. The referee saw nothing but the blood. Spaniards saw the same old Italy: dirty, cynical, lucky, and victorious. "

Ummm hate to burst your bubble but you didn't beat us. A game decided by PKs is officially a draw.

Thats not correct, Holland is usually like spain, start of strong but then suddenly turn into a major dissapointment. There were many that said sooner or later Holland would fail.

Agreed, but this Euro proves no team is a certainty to be in the final. I don't believe any country has proven that they have "wrapped" this tournament up.

Congrats to Spain

It is sad so many are going this route, just watching with ignorance, as Torres dove about 5 times, while Spain pulled that trick of staying down while Italy was on the break about 3 times in the first half.
How many times did the Ref tell Italy to put the ball out play or stop the match because of a downed Spanish player?

Boring game, both cautious, Spain started it off taking 10 minutes to get out of their own half, and really putting that pace on the game
Agreed that it was boring, but it was the tactics set by Italy. Had Italy not played 7-8 guys in the last 1/3 of the field, Spain would not have need to be so cautious of the counter attack. Thus, Spain made cautious runs through midfield with their midfielders. When Italy opened up at about the 63/64min, then Spain was able to open up...until both teams ran out of gas at about the 100min mark.

Why would the World Champions be crying about going out on penalties in the quarter finals of the wooden spoon competition? You win some, you lose some.

Suck it Italy! I knew Spain had the fight and passion to win, without diving around like cheats all night. My 2nd favourite team because my girl is Spanish:)

It's not that Holland choked. Had Spain lost this one, they would have choked.

The Orange was simply outplayed at their own game. From a technical point of view, Russia's display against The Netherlands is the high point of the tournament so far.

If they can play like that the next two games, they'd win it all. But chances are it won't happen.

Some of you people complaining about how classless Italy are sure are classless.

Not that Italy deserved to go through, but Spain didn't impress me at all, especially their defense. Didn't wow me at all. Everyone praised the Netherlands for the same reason and the Netherlands looked exactly like Italy against Russia. Right now I have to give the edge to Russia

Still laughing at the people crying about the diving, you've seen it from every team in the tournament, especially from Torres today, but you didn't hear a peep from Andy Grey about his EPL boy

As Di Natele, Pirlo and De Rossi.. they were all crying for some reason.

Italy played their game... ugly as f^&% but respect to textbook soccer D.

Ah but Spain did NOT fall in the trap this time. I actually liked Spain's cautiousness.

I'm pretty suprised at the way people are reacting to this game. I don't know if you guys are all Spanish supporters or just Italian haters, but you guys are showing a true immature side.

I for one would just like to say Congratulations to Spain, good, hard-fought battle. Well taken PKs was the decisive factor. Good luck vs. Russia

Geeze... that was a bad substitution... if this goes to penalties... I reckon this guy bottles it. Torres would have taken one.

btw.... don't say I didn't call Guiza's miss earlier. LOL!

Thankfully, it will all be forgotten.

True but I think they also looked very cautious early and were more than happy to play it backwards. Guess you gotta expect it with a big game/these lineups/this matchup. Congrats on the win

I don't like to refer to it as a Jinx, just an unlucky streak for Spain I'd say. But Spain did not beat Italy just now, it was a draw decided on PKs.

so ladies and gentlemen, this might become one of the most exciting eurocups since decades. Defensive style is out, passion is in.

Okay, Germany might still be the only one here playing a somewhat traditional style. But turkey surely wont allow it to become a boring game.

I must say I am realy excited about the upcoming games.
