you should hear him when Liverpool play! As an ex everton player it doesn't make sense! He was a fantastic player though
I hope ESPN 3 doesn't give him a contract

A team that plays for ties like Italy does should get better at taking penalties.
Time after time they lose the shoot outs. Even with a great keeper and with the players looking confident, they almost always lose the PKs.

Very disappointed, but congratulations to Spain.
Hmm, will it be a Russia versus Turkey final?

Thats not correct, Holland is usually like spain, start of strong but then suddenly turn into a major dissapointment. There were many that said sooner or later Holland would fail.
Honestly, Spain almost chokes today...

Spain never beat Italy in any big tournament since 1920s...Wow...
Technially, they still haven't since this goes into the books as a draw. :)

Congradulations Spain! Tough luck Italy but what can I say... tonight, football was the winner. It wouldn't have been if Italy had won.
Goodbye and good riddence to anti-football.... that was so 2004.

Absolutely agree, and I expected them to lose this one. And as someone already said, lets hope "defensive soccer is dead" now.

We are out... we played average, Donadoni is average... and now I guess the federation will kick him out, and there will be 22 years of Italian's average football... we are supposed to win in the WC of 2030. But:
- Will I be alive in 2030? If yes, I will be an horrible 40 years old man
- Will the world still exist in 2030?
Yaaaaaawn sadness
PS Go italian haters :D

Great Game España!!!!
It's all history! Adios Italy, couldn't win with the aid of the referee!
REMEMBER LUIS ENRIQUEZ!
"It is the face that celebrates 80-odd years of grudges, gripes and indignation. It is the photograph of Luis Enrique, the Spain international, his mouth dripping so much blood it is as if he had just finished the main course at a vampire feast.
The picture was taken shortly before the end of the 1994 World Cup quarter-final in Boston between Italy and Spain. Contesting a corner, Luis Enrique’s face had just been rearranged by the elbow of Italy defender Mauro Tassotti. The referee saw nothing but the blood. Spaniards saw the same old Italy: dirty, cynical, lucky, and victorious. "

I feel bad for Buffon, he is the only honorable player they got but good riddence to the rest of the Anti Football squad ...
VAMOS CASILLAS!!!!!
this is so true.. The only player i have respect for in Italy is Buffon, I bet his roots are German. ;)
Boring game i would say (duh, italy is playing! surprise surprise!) but a deserved win to Spain!

Wow you seem like an intelligent individual. Though Italy didnt marvel attacking-wise, they played beautifully defensively. Torres and Villa, two of the best strikers in the world, didnt do ****.

I find it so silly that people talk about us not beating Italy in 88 years. What is that? maybe 3 or 4 matches? As if anything can be shown through that.
If National teams played the amount of games that clubs do (i.e., 38 matches per season) does anyone really believe Italy would take the lions share vs Spain? I'm sure there are Italians with inflated ego's that think so but that is only cause they missunderstand the nature of international play. ITS ALL ABOUT THE SYSTEM!!! That is why teams like Spain and Holland choke so bad even though they have great talent. If they had 38 consecutive games to play with each other it would not be a problem (they would win their share of games over time) but in a short knockout tourny, the advantage usually goes to the more defensive minded squads. Brazil is an exception, but that is only cause there have been years when their talent was heads above other teams.
Neither Italy nor Spain have ever been "superior" to each other in talent level (some years Spain has probably had the slight advantage, some years Italy). Its only natural that Italy has the advantage in short tourny's cause they play a defensive style.
