Hopefully Fandel can turn it around because it is probably his last game in a major tournament. He's 44 and he won't get a final because of Germany in the semis.

This Ref Is Effin Pathetic! Period!
that's why Americans hate soccer...getting stepped on the foot and falling down, then getting up a minute later because it wasn't called

did the player get up right away of course...he stepped on his foot it's not a penalty...we need to stop this faking crap and get up and play
Are you blind or just not a truly neutral observer here?

Well, each foul not called makes the Spanish players more and more scared of going into the area, and it shows.
Sorry but I don't see Spain winning this one.

Usually I hate it when spot-kicks decide games, but really, it's only far that Spain be one or even two goals up from penalties.

Yeah, Spain is completely tentative because they know they're not going to get the calls.
I do have to wonder if the German referee is wanting to see an Italy v Germany final.

No referee is going to call a penalty in a game like this for getting stepped on the foot. You need to slide from behind or clearly take out his legs from under the ball

It wasn't a penalty - outside the area - but it should have been a foul.
And I'm rooting for Italy.
Exactly, the word penalty was misused.

Yeah, he thinks Americans hate soccer because the players expect the rules of the game to be enforced. Comical.

So in your little world fouls are only justified if the player is injured?
Good to know.

Switching over to ESPN Classic to see part of USA v Barbados
US 1-0 Barbados. Lewis nutmegged the keeper on a nice pass from Freddy Adu.
