That happened 10 minutes before the ending... Did you think that was the ending?
Yes, I consider the last two minutes of extra time to be part of the end considering the fact that there was no actual game after the 121st or so. Especially because the game appeared over after Klasnic scored in the 119th.

Possession + "almost scoring" doesn't make a better team.
I know that too well.

That's my point.

Individuals make up a team. When goals are scored, sometimes they are individual efforts.
Maybe PKs should be taken by the whole team, if you want to argue that it isn't a complete team effort. But at least 6 players from each team are involved. These guys aren't machines, there's so much running they can do before they collapse. In consideration for the players' health, it's a suitable solution. If you can't get it done in 120 minutes, then you live and DIE by the sword.
How about some sort of free kicks to decide then? ;)
I agree with that, though, 120 minutes is A LOT of time for such a high endurance sport. There's not much you can do after that except bring out a crapshoot like penalties...which as cruel as it is still at least involves some sort of skill as opposed to something purely arbitrary or subjective like which team "played better"

the match will be recorded as a draw.
As well it should be. It was a draw after all. The rest was just fluff.
Maybe the game should be decided by Royal Rumble WWE style. Last man in the ring wins it for the team. lol I bet Mexico would win a lot of games this way.

Yes, a PK shoot out does not determine the winner. It's just like drawing lots: it determines which one of two equal teams is allowed to go on.
I don't like it, because it introduces an element of chance into the game. Although it can be argued that is always a part of any sport: a sudden gust of wind or a lump on the ground or a not-called penalty are also random events.
This game saw two teams that were equivalent in strength (as said above, controlling a game without scoring and "almost scoring" means nothing), and luck had it that Turkey went on to the semis after the penalties.

Or we could use something that involves passing, tactics, defense, etc...

Germany is already in the final.

Wrestling involves all of those.

Damn, hard stuff for germany. If we don't lead with 4 or 5 goals until 90+5 min we're out.:(

But the problem is that there is no better way to determine the winner by PK shoot-out after the 120 minutes of battle. IMHO the shoot-out thing is not just like drawing lot. You need to have a lot of confidence and composure. It shows your character.

I say just play until someone drops dead from exhaustion or cardiac arrest.

The PK discussion bores me. I'll change topic: I like both coaches. A pity that Terim is going to quit (he is, isnt he?).

Hit us with your big solution then. Playing indefinitely isn't an option, and tournaments leave no time for replays.
