Wow, a bitter Italian! ;)

Was it Sweden's fault that you couldn't beat them in 2004?

Nobody beat us either in 2004....remember ???

Excuses .. Excuses... Excuses... Just admit it. You are players were more focused on spitting on other players rather then wining

I can just picture the Italians screaming foul play had Romania actually beat Holland rather then asking them self why they were in a position that depended on their rival to win for them to progress.

I think if Arshavin is to move this summer then the calibur of club has just jumped up.

Would be really interesting...;)
A remake of the EC 2004 quarter final as well, though.

Nah, this Sweden side is a shadow of the team that blew away Bulgaria and held their own against Italy & Holland 4 years ago. Actually, I could see this match getting nasty... 3, 4-1 Russia maybe

Sweden are a little unlucky to face Russia third, after Arshavin's return. They've looked pretty bad, though.

Hard to understand why Kallstrom was left on the bench until after the second goal.

I guess living in such a thoroughly corrupt society, it's hard for him to imagine that any other country could be playing fair.

Someone should tell them that just because mafia control & corruption is a way of life down there doesn't necessarily mean its the same everywhere.

This game should be 6-0 for Russia with the chances theyve had.

Sweden is garbage, and Ibrahimovic is doing his disappearing act again.

Sweden is garbage
I agree.

I suppose it doesn't matter that much who gets to lose to Holland in the quarterfinal.
The only difference is that now they'll win 5-0 instead of 1-0.

The first point is true, but I thought it was obvious that Ibrahimovic really was injured and thus you can't blame him imo.

They are lucky they didn't make it 1-1 somehow because if they did... i hate to think of what Holland could do to them... maybe that 6-0 scoreline would not be so far off.

Anyhoo.. congrats and well played Russia! Excellent performance. As for Sweden, tough luck but this really is another team that Euro 2008 was really just one step too far for..... end of an era!

Does this mean that Sweden is worse than Andorra?

Pretty weak performance from Sweden - Ljungberg fought hard, but the rest of the team's older players looked tired. Zlatan was hobbled and had no help.

Kallstrom probably should have come on at the half at the latest, rather than after the game was out of reach.

Källström absolutely should have been in earlier, I had thought, but he proved ineffective.

The team is flat out too old. The starting midfield was abysmal, the players looked not only tired, but hungover. There seemed to be little focus or drive. Perhaps they just didn't want to play the Dutch? I don't know. But the long ball thing and sending the ball high into the box was NOT working, I thought that was obvious. Could not control headers. Atrocious passing.

It was a really, really bad display. Disheartening to see in a must-win game, gotta say.
