Why can't our national team out draw the Galxay for a
World Cup qualifier?
I know it was against Barbados,a team that we're supposed
to beat with no problem. I just wished that U.S.Soccer fan's
would pack the Home Depot Center no matter who the opponent
was.

David Beckham is still a big draw

Massive portions of the HDC were not open for ticket sales. I'm not entirely sure the reasons for this, but the entire end-line behind one goal and all of the upper decks were not available for sale. That being said, even the tickets which were for sale did not sell out, so I agree that a WCQ should have a better showing, even against Barbados.

Barbados = USL1 Open Cup opponent. The Gals aren't going to draw well in that either especially as Becks will rest.

It's disappointing, isn't it? Especially since the west coast has been starved for WCQ action for ages.

Does anybody know why the HDC doesn't open up all the seats for sale a lot of the time? I know the college has something to do with it for weeknight games, but this was a Sunday afternoon for Pete's sake. What's the deal?

US Soccer Fans support their team when they play real opponents.
Barbados is not worth the average US national team fan's time. When our WCQs occur against Mexico, Canada, or Central America, the fans will show.
It's really that simple.

I agree its against Barbados, so hence the small crowd...was there no Barbados supporters there? I'm sure there were a few that showed up.
Didn't Spain have a relatively small crowd for their game against the USA? What does Italy draw against the minnows they play?

When we played Grenada in Columbus, the attendance was even lower. These early-round games aren't very interesting to most people.

The USSF should use games like these against poorer teams to let fans who don't live in LA, NY, Boston, DC, or Chicago have a chance to see their team. If this game had been played in a place like Saint Louis, Denver, or Minneapolis, there would not have been so many fans saying "it's just Barbados, I'll wait until next time they play here" because we know that there won't be a next time for a few years. Fans in LA never have to wait more than a couple of months.
I'm a college student. I love our national team. I've seen them play exactly once, because I can't afford to fly all over the country. Why won't the USSF use games like this to share the wealth a little?

"Few" is right: (According to Wikipedia) population 279,000. Even an East coast match wouldn't have drawn flies.
Plus, they suck. So you're paying top dollar, ostensibly, to watch the US play a training match.

West coast fans bitch about having to play a Scandanavian B team every winter. This was their punishment.

Mark your calendar. When the US plays Mexico it will be in Columbus. We'll be driving from Des Moines, IA. You should be able to make the trip.
LA won't gt one of the big games, because USSF wants to have a home crowd. Anyone except Barbados would be an away game in LA. This was actually LA's shot at getting a game that "matters". It will likely be the last one until the next qualifying cycle.

I'll speak as a Galaxy season ticket holder (who did go to the match yesterday) and say that I didn't get any emails inviting me to buy tickets. As far as I could tell, there was no coordination between the USSF and the LA Galaxy to sell tickets. I would have expected that they would have tried to sell directly to the Galaxy season ticket holders but I don't think they did.
Really, if I wasn't such a big fan, I'm not sure I would even have known about the match. There has been little if any advertising of any kind.
And to the person who attributed the galaxy's typical crowd to Becks, I'd just point out that you're wrong. Becks didn't really add a lot more in the way of attendance, he's just driven a ton more revenue because ticket prices have gone up 60%.

I'm going to make every effort to be at that game, but it still doesn't answer to why this game had to be in LA yet again when they completely ignore the Midwest outside of Chicago. Saint Louis, Minneapolis, and even Milwaukee are all big cities that have never hosted even a friendly.
