WOW WHAT A Match!
Can't believe it. We were cheering Turkey but were ready to accept defeat. Then .. WOW. WOW. It's better than Liverpool vs. AC Milan ;) !
Outstanding. The winning goal wasn't offside at all, the Czech defense messed up! What a world class finish by Nihat, off the crossbar and in, WOWZERS!
I'm not even Turkish, but I'm in PARTAY mode!
Congrats Turkey.
Great never-say-die attitude.
Huge party here in my house because three Turkish families live here and many many more in my street.
It's going to be a loong night. :D

you're having a laugh right?
he's rated as among the top three keepers in the world and has been even though he's made mistakes this season.
are you telling me that wasn't a mistake? if he was worried about catching the ball then he should have elected to punch it.
keeper error. how you can call it understandable is beyond me.
You show me a keeper who doesn't make mistakes.

You sure it wasn't 2004?? ;)
As an American fan, sadly I have to say no. The Czechs did kick 'somebodies' ass  in 2006
Ya know what I mean... Nedved, Poborsky all played in 2006.
Now Koller, Jankulovsky, Galasek, etc are all getting up there.

Not for me, and he hasn't really been the same since his head injury.
As for the game, it's the sort of match that makes international tournaments so special - everything on the line for both teams and fantastic entertainment.

The problem is Cech has been making too many recently. He's still a good keeper, but his form over the past year is not what it once was.

Of course it is "forgivable." With all the rain, it's even "understandable."
It is also devastating. You seem to have a problem with how he's rated.
How he is rated by "experts" and fans isn't his fault.
Im fairly certain if your goalkeeper for any of your sides you follow made an error like that to cost you a place in the next stage of a competition you probably wouldn't be calling it "forgivable" and "understandable". The look on his face at the end tells you that he knows he cocked it up. End of.

I think that head injury affected him more than he would like to make out. He is still a good goalkeeper, just not the force he once was.

Sorry man. A team considered as one of the early favorites doesn't get a "point" with me for kicking our asses.
You see, I'm American too.
Arena had his head up his ass that tourney and before it. Good that it finally cost him his job.

Agreed, and it is completely understandable if he has been affected.

You show me a keeper who doesn't make mistakes.
why are you moving the goalposts?
i've stated that he shouldn't be regarded as one of the top three in the world anymore. his mistakes show this.
you then said it was 'understandable'.
it was a poor error for a keeper of his supposed calibre to make, especially in a game of this magnitude and at the time he made it.
we're not discussing every other keeper that plays professional football. this is a thread about the Turkey-Czech Republic match and the howler from Cech was a major, if not the major, talking point in that game.

do prdele!
:(
well that really spoiled the party in Namesti Svoboda, but we've had worse excuses to get drunk. Anyway congrats Turks, that winner was probably goal of tourney (and after Robben v France that means something). Our top player made an error and yours had a stroke of genius, can't really complain.

I do wish the Korean players watch this game and learn some lessons from the Turkish players.
Congrats Turkiye. Well deserved win.

That comment you're jumping on came from me.
How the hell can you make that statement? You don't freakin' know me. I don't care if you're a moderator or not, you're talking through your ass.
Our keeper at BVB made many errors before he got injured this season. Cost us a few points. I stuck with the guy.
Jens Lehmann had the worst season I ever saw a keeper have at BVB in 1999-2000.
I got into fights defending the guy.
You don't freakin' know me. Don't write like you do.

frasermc it is rainy, and players were under pressure. We all make mistakes. Mistake free games will end 0-0, won't they?
Congrats to both teams, and delayed)happy fathers day to all fathers.

Or what? :p
Maybe you shouldn't take too much offence to what people say on an internet forum, and chill out a little bit. I'm not the only person you've snapped with.

3 years ago Petr Cech had a superb season, he has been living of the back of it ever since.

I think that's the main disappointment for the Czechs, at 2-0 up with just under an hour to go I would expect a team with their quality and experience to shut up shop. Sadly they got caught cold a little bit and they ended up with the harshest punishment possible for it.
There are a few Czech players who shone at this tournament, who will take the team onto the next level once Galasek, Koller etc retire.

Definitely, didn't dispute that. Lesser men wouldn't even play football again, let alone perform at the level he has. Just unfortunate for him that he's gonna get called on such a howler tonight, will put him under even more scrutiny than he has been in the past season.

What do you mean "moving the goalposts?"
You said how I could call Cech's error "understandable" is beyond you.
I asked you to show me a keeper who doesn't make mistakes.
I think I stayed right on the freakin' subject.
You didn't see fit to respond.
Keepers make mistakes. Sometimes at bad times, some years more than others.
As I said, how "experts" and fans rate Cech is not his freakin' fault.
Go hate on the ones you feel overrate him.
Perhaps it takes someone who played the position to understand.
Everyone else just loves talking shit. Again, you show me the perfect keeper.
