So why was that red not a penalty kick?

That was a crazy end to the game. The first 60 minutes were pretty boring. Looks like Arda Turan has a bright future.

What about an indirect kick?
For dealing with violent conduct:
Restart of play:
• If the ball is out of play, play is restarted according to the previous
decision.

a huge congratulations to Turkey for battling away yet again. if they could play in the first half like they do in the second half of games then they could go all the way.
on a side note, perhaps now people will stop talking about the top three GK's being streets ahead of everyone else. after the indifferent league season Cech has had the error for his second goal was unforgivable.

Of course it is "forgivable." With all the rain, it's even "understandable."
It is also devastating. You seem to have a problem with how he's rated.
How he is rated by "experts" and fans isn't his fault.

I am sorry for the czechs but they really have to work their last minutes ....
Euro 96-Lost the title from a fault of their keeper
Euro 04-After golden goal they manage to bring silver goal on use.....
Euro 08-the last 10 minutes they did anything to prove their backround history...
Great players overall just i dont see they have the mentality....
Great passion from turks ,paid off at the end BUT WTF their keeper did?The ref could give penalty.....
Overall the Tournament so far has very entertnaiment features...(fall of the champion,Comebacks,2-3 teams playing really good football and we w8 italy vs france +Germany fight to not disq again)
Keep them coming.Football rocks
Fiorentina lives!

The Czechs as the Lakers, the Turkish as the Celtics... :p
On a serious note, now... holy sh$%# that was a kicka$$ comeback (another one)...
If I were Crotian I'd be sh!++ing my pants right now; I would not want to face Turkey now.
Cech made a mistake a 10-year old would make. That was worse than Nikopoulos (sp?) of Greece yesterday. That was a Zubizarreta vs. Nigeria WC 1998 moment...

you're having a laugh right?
he's rated as among the top three keepers in the world and has been even though he's made mistakes this season.
are you telling me that wasn't a mistake? if he was worried about catching the ball then he should have elected to punch it.
keeper error. how you can call it understandable is beyond me.
