Excuse me, but was Henry even touched on that yellow card foul?

Jesus I'm nervous as hell.

We should be up 4 nil already.

How about if for DOGSO the offending player (or the player who would be substituted in case of the keeper) moves to the technical area. If a goal is scored before play is next stopped then he is allowed back on. If no goal is scored then it becomes a red card. It could work for penalties and free kicks.

that's stupid, every goalkeeper would just let the ball through to keep his mate in the game and their chances up.
every player knows this rules and it's a risk for the defender to interfere in that situation, which makes it interessting.

for my part, this game got a lot better after that red card and the goal

Possibly very early in the game, but I can't see many teams willingly conceding a goal to go behind with 10 or 20 minutes left just to have an extra man on the pitch. Besides, most penalties are scored regardless of the keeper.

Brutal taking off Nasri after less than 14 minutes of him coming on. Should've taken off Govou because he had all game last game and 25 minutes of this one and he's useless!

Or either of Makelele or Toulalan, but I guess thats why Im not an international football coach.

Why on Earth do you still have two non creative holding mids in the game, down a man down a goal? It blows my mind.

I know nobody likes the idea of the 'Americanization' of the sport.. but i do kinda like the idea of the 'sin bin'. Straight red cards obviously for violent conduct or players who try and intentinoally cause an injury. However, for fouls that deny a goal but are not maulicious in any way... why not some sort of 'temporary sending off'. The team concedes the penalty and then has to play 10-15 minutes or so without that player. I know, according to the rules, Abdigal (sp) had to go but from a neutrals perspective - ths really turns the match on its had.

Also, France have to score twice to go through as a draw will not be enough. Unless there's a make up red coming, France are as good as out for me.

well, i like the game how it is. it often is controversial and has not so many goals. but thats what makes this game so great, a lot of goals happen now and again, but if you have tons of goals every game, it wouldn't be "special" anymore.

edit: this is about all those calls for changing the rules

Holy hell -- how did he manage that off that play?

Too bad.

The referee is just shit.

I can't believe the Italians keep playing like this foul after foul... And Ribery's leg is broken (perone broken probably) !

How can you expect to do anything in a football game when you play against 11 players + 1 referee ?

Ribery has broken his leg.

That sucks.

I understand your frustration but have to disagree w/u ... Abidal has a choice to make. He could have let Toni go but instead he decided to bring him down from the back when Toni was clear on goal..... clear red card! This player was having a nightmare match. He headed one ball right in the path of Toni earlier on. I think France are better off w/ 10 men then with 11, including Abidal.
