This forums messed up don't worry about it. Sweet victory today, of course the French are complaining but I rather enjoy it.

Most French on here I think have been quite respectful and complimentary towards us.....

But whatever, I'm ecstatic.

I usually find a pretty decent reason to blame the Italians (because I generally loathe them!!) but I don't have much today. We can only blame ourselves and Abidal AND Domenech for the result after the penalty and red card. (putting in Boumsoung-inexcusable) The 2nd goal was a complete fluke. Had Ribery not been injured so early, I think this quite obviously would've been a much more entertaining match. Good luck in the next round. I hope Villa and Torres each put 3 past Buffon.

There's no big game that the Italians can't suck the life out of, is there? Man, I hate them.

I think you mistaking Italian chatters in this site with the Azzurri players. I agree ome of the Italian chatters in here tend to suck the life out of chatting but not the players they are great and totally dominated today,

This is exactly what I'm most afraid of... Villa's going to punish us soundly, and this time we haven't got Cannavaro to make things right again. But if Luca Toni ever found his shooting boots, he'd put 7 past Iker Casillas :p Not looking likely, though...

Yeah, because the Italians were stifling a truly brilliant and creative French attack tonight, weren't they? If the game lost all meaning for you because Italy won, then I suppose you and I have very different interpretations of a side sucking the life out of a game.

Panucci might become the next old legend. Good intentions for Panucci! Chiellini is no worry, the kid can handle anyone. Too bad we didn't get to see Gamberini, at least until after the EURO.

We need to thank the Dutch for winning, even with a second-string side. That really made the win worthwhile.

Toni needs to step up in the quarter-finals. He needs to do a Paolo Rossi.

The loss for France will be a blessing for them because they will get rid of Domenech and he won't be there to put tedious teams on the park. Guys like Frey, Mexes and maybe Trez could get starting spots if France make WC 2010, which they should.

Looking forward to the game against Spain. Should be a cracker.

Good job! Yesterday De Rossi was astounding, Pirlo finally back in shape (too bad is out for the next match), and, except for a shot by Henry, I saw Chiellini doing a great job down there.
Luca Toni... if this guy score one, he's gonna became unstoppable.
The only one i didn't like was Perrotta.

E ora andiamo convinti contro la Spagna. :)

Oh, and a thought for Ribery: i feel really sorry for him, he looks like such a good guy.

the italians just sitting back against 10 men is disgustingno, just sound tactics. no problem.

The PK and the red card were both deserved [...]Was it a foul in the penalty area? Yeah, so it was a penalty. Was it a last-man-standing foul? yeah, so it deserved a red card. It's simple.there's actually a very valid debate about this. outside the box the red card should come out (even if it doesn't always), but in the box, a penalty and a yellow can be considered punishment enough. applying the "full penalty of the law" is almost like blowing the final whistle on the match right now.

Sweet victory today, of course the French are complaining but I rather enjoy it.Most French on here I think have been quite respectful and complimentary towards us..... But whatever, I'm ecstatic.and obviously i'm crushed. but if you'll be a little sad for me, i'll try to be a little happy for you. deal?

Before I moved to Abidjan, the only argument I recall is not giving red when it is putside the box. You are stating the opposite.

On a personal note,... once upon a time, I failed an assessment. One of the reasons I failed was I used the same argument/ rationale as you did above. The yellow card was punishment enough- Cards punish misconducts, a PK punishes fouls in the PK area.

Thye bottom line ABIDAL was an idiot. I knew at the moment, it was a red card and a PK. First I prayed that the referee would see a touch on a ball (hoping I was deceived by slight of foot), but NO. Then I hoped there was somehow another defender near by, but NO. How is it I knew the consequences, and ABIDAL did not. The fool even argued after the fact... STUPID, STUPID, STUPID!!!!

If the FFF were smart,... they "86" both DOMENECH & ABIDAL,... you when with smart players & managers, not stupid players & managers.

C'est la vie!

abidal has pretty good technique, great reflexes, and had real atomes crochus with malouda when they were both at OL. above all he's as fast as the TGV. but he has always been one of the dimmest bulbs on any christmas tree you hang him on.

First Cassano now him. This really is a mans game...

Cassano celebrated with a little striptease (http://www.bild.de/BILD/sport/fussball/EM-2008/2008/06/18/antonio-cassano-italiener/zieht-sich-nach-dem-sieg-aus.html) (Safe for Work).

I thought France today had the major event of the game go against them and it obviously hurt them. If you had told me that Ribery would go out injured early in the game I would have had to say that I liked Italy to win the match. He was the only player for them I thought had done anything to spark them offensively. Tough break and good luck to France in the future (though I hope it is without Domenech as I think he really does hate us.)

On the penalty Abidal made a big mistake in allowing Toni to turn like that and it cost him dearly. That is a penalty every time and often a red card to follow. Good player, big mistake, but I do not think he left the referee much choice.

Well the Italians are always complaining that nobody likes their team and the blatant refusal to actually play football is why.

I could not care less whether others like our team. I get upset when people here offend my nationality. As for "playing football", we have created chance after chance this tournament. For some reason Luca Toni has not been able to knock even one in. But we are certainly playing football. With a 1-0 lead everything changes as the pressure on coaches to advance in a tournament like this is enormous. Did you watch our game against Germany in the 2006 World Cup? We attacked in waves, over and over again. We had 4 forwards on the pitch at one time. We went all out for the win and got it in dramatic fashion against a strong German side in their lucky charm stadium. I am not sure what more some of you want from us.:(
