Romania played well against Italy ... but with tonight's performance they simply didn't deserve to go through!

How can you play so anxiously & defensively against a Dutch "B" team? Even after the interval (when they knew that Italy was leading against France) I didn't see them attacking...

It's a pity that they destroyed their good job from the 1st two games tonight.

LOOOL.

"Embarrassment" after reaching 2 draws against the World and Vice-World Champs? C'mon...

So what is France?

The Dutch are the honorable favorites in this tournament.

Van Basten is a class coach just like he was a class player. One of my favorite human beings of all time.

Thanks MVB I owe you one.

Exactly. I was shocked when I saw they were playing 5-3-2. 5 DEFENDERS in MUST-WIN game? That's like the Greeks' formation! Absolutely no excuses for Romania. None whatsoever. They only have themselves and Piturca to blame.

Yeah its a shame. I was expecting more from Romania in this game. But hey if you want to look at it in the bright side. Romania didn't finished last on their group and they are back on quality international level.

I still can not see how anyone can defend Piti. The guy makes us play so attrocious football.

Well yeah Holland would have needed to pull a 'Henry' or 3 to let Romania qualify, they were missing all their opportunities they got themselves, it could have ended 2-4 if they had a little more accuracy.

I wouldn't go so far to say that Romania was an embarassement. They drew an extremely tough group being in (I hope all agree) the worst spot before the tournament began. They managed to tie the world cup champions and runner-ups (with some luck on the call vs. Toni). But nevertheless, they pulled the draws. To be honest though, they didnt score at all with the exception of the mistake by Zambrotta. In a sense, that is embarassing but they faced the toughest of opponents.

France underperformed without a doubt. If anything, their play can be characterized as an embarassment, not Romania's.

Holland played great, Italy didnt do anything special.

I never liked this Romanian team but this match was unbelievable. I didn't saw any spirit. It was like a friendly match for both sides. The Dutch looked more motivated. Why don't bring in more attacking players from the beginning.

Italy to the quarters. But Spain will be more difficult for the Netherlands so I dont think its to bad they get true.

Now the question is Who can stop this Dutch team/s? They are just magnificent!

I wouldn't go that far. I think Greece, France, Poland are some of the worst. Not any team gets two points out of this group. I give them some props despite the last horrible game.

I knew he wouldn't let his friend Donadoni down.

It's impressive that even the Dutch "B" team was too strong for a squad that reached 2 draws against France & Italy and managed to finish the qualifying group ahead of Holland!

Romania needs more passion and power in their play, they were barely trying for a team that is about to get eliminated.

That's what I can't understand. Especially not when knowing how much Euros that idiot named Becali promised them in the case of going through this group...

Romania needs more passion and power in their play, they were barely trying for a team that is about to get eliminated.

That will always be their main problem. They play a technically good counter-attack football and are often able to beat top teams on a good day ... but always "suck" in decisive games (just remember the 1/4 final loss to Sweden during the WC 1994 after beating Argentina before)!

Seems to be a mentality problem...
