it's a very unlikely situation, but in that case italy will go through because of the the fifa coefficient.

Yea it is unlikely but are you sure? The FIFA coefficient? wow

yes i'm sure. if Romania losses at 4 goal difference (again very unlikely) and italy and france draw and have the same goal difference then we will see penalties between italy and france.

Right. To use coefficient in an extreme case like that is crazy though.

you know what's crazy? if two teams have the same coefficient (this is not the case) then it will be a draw (two balls in a bowl, somebody will shuffle them and the one that comes out passes to the next round)

Wow, that is crazy. Thanks for the info and best of luck to Romania. I want to see them go on and beat Spain.

Italy go through on a score draw because Romania didn't score against France whereas Italy would have.

Group C (Tuesday)
Netherlands (6, winners) v Romania (2), France (1) v Italy (1)
Again, top spot is decided in favour of the Netherlands, and second-placed Romania will join the Dutch in the quarter-finals by winning their encounter in Berne. If Romania draw or lose then that would allow either France or Italy to go through by winning their match in Zurich – the only way Les Bleus can progress. If Romania lose and the others play out a score draw, Italy would go through in a three-way head-to-head tie on two points as they would have scored more goals in the games involving France and Romania.
If Romania fall by one goal, two goals or by a three-goal margin other than 3-0 and the other match finishes 0-0, Romania would advance as their head-to-head record with Italy would be dead level but they would have a superior overall goal difference (or in the case of the three-goal defeats, goals scored). If Romania lose by four goals or more and the other game ends 0-0, Italy would proceed with a better overall goal difference than Romania. If Romania lose 3-0 and the other match finishes 0-0, Italy and Romania would have to be split on qualifying coefficients, in which case Italy would prevail 2.364-2.250.
Always classy Italians.

what's not classy exactly? it's just common sense.
or do you want me to state that netherlands will play the last game like it is a matter of life or death? They obviously won't and they are perfectly right in doing so as there is nothing wrong in you trying to take advantage of that. You still could lose btw.
maybe I would not be classy if I argued about the fact that if the legittime goal in the italy-romania game had not been unfairly disallowed an entirely different game would have unfolded. a game where romania would have had to expose thus leaving the spaces to italy's counters and not the opposite. Chances are that you might have ended with a 2 goals margin loss.
Or if we're playing the if game and the deflected shot at goal goes 3 inches to the right to give Romania a 1-0 lead midway through the 1st half . Chances are Italy are done at that point.

Trust me Toon, you're the last person to start accusing others of lacking class.
And IMO the Italian fans on this board have showed great class after their
loss last week. Good sportsmanship and almost zero trolling
Says the guy who constantly posts drunk.
They may have shown great class to the Dutch but they've done nothing of the sort to the Romanian supporters. Constant whining isn't very classy.

I may sometimes post after too many beers, but I dont think I've ever (intentionally) trolled and mocked opposing fans like you do.

Perhaps some Romanians here bring that out in them???!!
(not naming any names though)

I wouldn't call that whining, but talking.
Italians think that the Toni goal in Ita-Rom wasn't offside so they write it, maybe with a little polemical tone (but that is normal in discussing about football), but NEVER with insults or offences. The only one who insulted was that strange-nick romanian fan who called me pathetic because I said that with the Toni-goal things weren't the same.
SO, we discusses in the same way with dutch and romanians fans.

My subjective view of the game was two good teams absolutely going at it, brilliant to watch. But as well-trained and organized as the Romanians were, I definitely felt the Italians were more dangerous...and that disallowed goal was one of the worst calls of this Euro.

Actually i was offended by some Italian fans on the Romania vs Italy post without reason. So to say NONE of you guys give out insults or offenses is a lie, i think there is always going to be that one unsocial person from every country.
But anyways, should Van Nistelrooy be bench for this match ? I saw him a little slow in the last game with 20minutes left or so, i think he needs to be well rested for the matches to come.
