Or Group of Clowns?
WHat were your expectations going into this group, more so the second match up? Did it live up to the hype? For me it seems that going into the last game not knowing who is going through and a Dutch team who has slapped everyone silly has turned everyone's expectations upside down.

Well I think it's the most interesting group as I don't think anybody has seen this coming, the world champions and the runner up for that same title only have 1 point after 2 games.
All 4 countries have made many lists as the 2 favorites to go on after the group, nobody thought it would be easy for any of them. This may also be the first time ever in a EC that a country advances from his group with just 2 points.

I am not sure why this group should be mocked at. Holland have played two incredible games and while deserved their wins, the score lines were unfair to both Italy and France. I still believe that two teams coming out of this group will play again in semi-finals. After watching Germany and Spain I am inclined to think group C was indeed the toughest group; because the teams that may finish in the bottom (France and Italy) could probably take the German and Spain's group and would have had less trouble qualifying from Portugal's group.

It's been awesome so far, only blight was that 0-0 game (France-Romania), which was incredibly dull.
I just hope it continues

Agreed. The dutch have been fantastic to watch and Italy - Romania had plenty of end to end action and drama as well. I would have preferred to be in a "group of life" though.:(

Before a game was played I expected 0-0s, 1-0s, 2-1s, and 1-1s. Definitely not what I expected...

Well if you only look at the other 3 countries and forget about Holland you are right. ;)

As usual we bring the action to life.
As usual we'll probably depart before the party's over.

The way I remember it, Euro 2004 (except for the Czech game) and WC 2006 weren't that great..
but I agree with you that we shouldn't get our hopes up too high as we ussually choke in the QF/SF stage. Wouldn't it be ironic to lose against the Italians in the SF after penalty kicks like in 2000 ?

Be confident, you guys have been the best team in the tournament so far without a doubt.

I would be surprised. Holland has been the best team in the tournament by quite a bit and they seem to have an enormous amount of desire to win as well. I do not think they will get complacent and will be extremely nervous if we face them again, although I think it really could be an excellent match.
So good luck, AFCA!
And no hard feelings.:D

When was the last time the best team has actually won a Euro?

You probably will, but then you'll only have yourselves to blame.

Yes, I'm sure the Germans would've sailed through that group, I mean, judging on the way Germany sailed past the likes of Austria, one of the toughest sides in the whole tournament.

Well, maybe, maybe not...but our sails are still taking us to the semi finals! :D

Germany had one good game and one half-decent game. This doesn't exactly put you in a position to gloat at others is all I'm saying. Just consider yourself lucky to be in the top half of the draw.

Yes, we are fcuking lucky that we only had to play Portugal to go to the semis while you had to play the powerhouse Russia to get there.
By the way, for me, the Netherlands are the deserved European Champion...
of the group stage. :D
