Well, a certain Dutch fan shouldn't bring Germany up then when we come here to talk about group C, dont you think?

As far as predetermined...Im sure most will agree that Portugal is not really an easier opponent than Russia.
Portugal is overrated and doesn't even have a target man, not to mention Ricardo!

Overrated or not, for the most part, they played better football than Italy and Fance during the group stages.

That's not the point though is it. Do you think Germany would've even made it to the quarters v Portugal if you played against France and Italy the way you did play in the group? Be honest now.

I'm actually glad you beat Portugal, they're a bunch of selfish overrated primadonnas. But come on, you're not seriously denying that the top half of the draw had it much easier than the bottom half. Russia are actually a genuinely good outfit. I'm pretty confident they'll beat Spain.

Oh dear!, I hope you don't mind my dear Neeskens, since we are old friends, if I quote your words and get all smug about it 4-1 and 3-0, with or without Arshavin. I hope you appreciate that I deserved to pop in for a laugh

I remember very well her statement before the tournament start: "If Holland drops out, I'll keep my fingers crossed for Spain"...:p

Well, maybe it's just the Guus Hiddink effect that changed her mind. ;)

I'm not entirely sure what you're having a laugh at. Do explain. Russia raised its game against Holland, whereas the Dutch had the misfortune of playing their worst game in the quarter finals. Spain by contrast was class throughout. Yes I wanted Russia to win because I like and rate Hiddink, I've no problem though in acknowledging that Spain were by far the better side, just like Russia on the night were by far the better side v Holland.

True! Besides it's only natural to want the side that beat you to go on and win the tournament.

Is her statement really so hard to understand?

I think it's better to close this thread now, since the whole 'off topic' "bla bla" seems to affect the brains...:p ;)
