Well, we all know if Romania win they're through. NL will field their 2nd string most likely. Now, the question is: Will the Netherlands LET Romania win? Would they rather avoid France/Italy later on and let a Romanian team they seem to have trouble with live another day, or are do they want to continue their excellent form and AT LEAST try to win the game against Romania, essentially burying them and the Romanian ghost?
Discuss and keep it civil.
I would also like to mention that the Netherlands are playing beautiful football and have been quite entertaining. If Italy is out, I wouldn't mind seeing the NL win it all because right now they deserve it.
On the other hand, if they do "pull" their last game, I can't respect that in the name of sportsmanship and fair play/competition.
I want to also note Romania's quality, and that I have them going through if you check the Top Two Thread. But it can't be denied that the Dutch are on form, and even their bench could ride the confidence wave to beat anyone.

I am uneasy at the moment. If we play with a defensive mindset, we will get crushed.
5-0 for Holland.
Holland-9
Romania-2
Italy-2
France-2

as i said before. holland will not let us win. i think their mentality is too good for that. but the fact they will have some reserves on the field (a normal thing, every team qualified will try to avoid yellows and relax some players) will make it a bit easier. thus romania is favorite for second place. also if france-italy ends as a draw we could qulify with a draw or even a loss. Hai Romania!

A draw between Italy and France? That's a stupid way to end that match for both teams

Why should Holland be afraid of France or Italy in the semis?
Why should anyone of them beat Spain in the quarters?

So Holland should care about getting some "fair-play" respect instead of looking at an easy semi-final match-up? Just so they can satisfy some angry Italian or French fans who will feel that they are "robbed" if Holland doesn't try their best?

It is but it seems like a realistic approach seeing both games today. If either team wins, I see a 2-1 score line.

yes it is. but the score could be 1-1 after both teams risked everything in attack.

Netherlands will rest some players for the Quarters but come out trying to win. But it should be expected that the Italians start their conspiracy theories about being screwed, as if Netherlands and Romania didn't prove to be better sides so far.

I didn't say Holland should give a damn, but I personally won't respect it if they do pull the game. It doesn't really matter either way. The question is not about trying, it's about GIVING AWAY the game. If it's blatant or not, we'll have to see.

There's the missing (and correct) option for the poll.

Um, the French are also involved here. Stop trolling, for once. Besides, 2004 Sweden and Denmark pretty much proved how teams pull games.

That's the third option, it's obvious the bench will start.

I see no one to blame for this but UEFA and their idiotic bracket that keeps the two halves of the tournament apart to the very end. My sense is that it was a ploy to keep the 'home' sides in as long as possible. Ridiculous. Holland should not have to prove themselves against Italy or France again unless it was a cup final. I say rollover and let the Romanians shoot away. Let the chips fall where they may from there...
Another thing to keep in mind if Spain win their group, (if they come in second nothing can be done of course) they get Romania(not taking anything away from them) and steam roll them and eventually meet Holland. Now, as a Dutch fan, would you rather have Spain going through France or Italy, or Romania?

I picked option 4. I don't think that the Dutch will let Romania win but I don't think they let Romania win in qualifying, either. The Dutch will rest a few of their better players but the players on the field will try, of course.
I think that the Romanians are better than most on here are giving them credit for and I think that the Dutch are much worse than most of those on here are giving them credit for.
In the end, I think that France will score more than once on the Italian "Four Fullbacks" backline so it's not really going to matter.
I predict...
Romania - Holland 2-1
France - Italy 2-1
6 Holland
5 Romania
4 France
1 Italy
Having said that, I really think that either match could go either way though I believe there is a MUCH bigger chance of Romania beating Holland than the other way around. Italy really deserved to win today and had that happened they would be in a very good position. Yeah, I think the Azzurri were screwed a bit today.

Romania beat Spain 1-0 in their last game. I do not think the Dutch fear anyone at the moment. It would be interesting if Germany, France, Italy and the Czech Republic all got kicked out as they were pretty much the favorites to win.

When was this? A friendly? The Czechs were favorites? lol

A Holland win over Romania and a Italy-France draw of 1-1 or greater would send Italy through. A Italy-France 0-0 tie and Romania loss and Romania would advance.
So Italy can still go through with a draw of 1-1 or greater!
