The game lost a bright light the other night with the sudden passing of Brian Budd at age 56 at his home in Toronto.
For those in North America, of a certain vintage, you might well remember Brian Budd as he won the late 70's ABC TV's "World Superstars" competition 3 times in a row, putting soccer players on the map in terms of being great athletes.
A larger than life character, Brian added a lot of colour and passion to his soccer commentary on one of Canada's sports channels these last few years.
He will be missed.
