We've had a rivalry with DC for years in the punk rock world. And really Queens vs the suburbs of DC. Way back in the early 80's..You had Bad Brains from DC, then Minor Threat etc.. And here in NYC , you had the Cro-Mags, Murphy's Law, Agnostic Front, Token Entry, Leeway etc..with most of the NYC Hardcore bands from Queens {Astoria being the Mecca} So let's get it going again..why not ?

What went wrong was they suck. It wasn't due to a lack of effort at all. It was simply becuase this team isn't good. Angel didn't play and he won't be back for Wed.'s game either, so we started Wolyniec as the lone striker. Like I said, it's just because they aren't good enough. They were leaving DC players completely unmarked in the box, Stammler tried to dribble out of the back and cost us a goal. It was absolutely gut-wrenching for me to watch. At some points it was like watching a hockey game with 2 on 1's coming down on our keeper over and over again. These injuries came at the worst possible time too. There's another game in NE on Wed., then we play Dallas on Sat., then in a week and a half they have to travel to Arizona for a friendly against Chivas. Then there are cup games coming up. This is going to be a rough few weeks. Where the ******** are those three signings Osorio was talking about?!?!

Wolyneic alone up front? Really - I hate a lone striker up front, unless you have a remarkable talent, I dont see the need for it!!

Yea - where is rojas?

Supposedly Osorio is still optimistic about signing Rojas. But we also offered Mexican defender Diego Jimenez a contract and it will be announced if he's signing with us by tomorrow.

This team never once has had its team put together and ready to go on opening day. I haven't been following, but reading metrobulls post gave me that old sick feeling to my stomach, waiting for the talismanic players to come and save our season. It's been the same every single year for this franchise.

If and when we get our team...
we should have a minor threat chant for DC...
" You're just...
A minor Threat!
You're just
A minor Threat!"

Ironically..i used to drive around town half-drunk and smoking
cigarette listening to Minor Threat...
The irony was not lost on me at the time.

First off, The Dictators were not Hardcore. I would call them a Hard Rock band. {Legs McNeil came up with the name Punk, when he saw them with their MC jackets on outside a White Castle in da Bronx}

The difference in DC vs NYC hardcore, except for Bad Brains[who moved to NYC :D]. Is urban vs suburban, Ian MacKaye was a nice upper middle class boy from Glover park. Most of the NYC bands were working class Irish, Italians etc..from Queens, Lower east Side and Brooklyn. Its like comparing apples and oranges . With that said, I did like some of the DC stuff.
