Germany are clear favourites, but if they underestimate the austrians

You can be sure that this won't happen! This isn't the friendly we played against them some months ago...

If they loose, I'm already prepared for it.

A German prepared for a defeat against Austria? C'mon...;)

But other than not being able to score they have been playing some pretty good football. I just hope it's not Monday that they decide to find the net!!

Of course, the Austrians have incapable strikers, but they've missed already so many scoring opportunities the first two matches, it's time to realize something.

I'd say it's time that they don't get these chances anymore. :-)

Also, Austrians have nothing to lose, while Germany is under pressure.

That's true.

But don't forget that we often need this pressure in order to perform well...

We respect this Austrian team (they played very well against Croatia & Poland for 45 minutes) ... but surely won't be "scared shitless", since we have beaten much stronger hosts in the past (i.e. Yugoslavia, Spain, Mexico, Sweden, England etc.)!

It's going to be a tough game, but I'm confident that we'll get at least the draw we need!

Winner plays Portugal. I would love to see Austria pull off the upset but I don't think it will happen... Portugal v Germany would be one hell of a QF.
Portugal will probably win this, because of ********ing head to head as the tie-breaker they have 4 days more to regenerate and another day more because the second team of group A just has this disadvantage anyway.

That does not sound right; Let me rephrase
I am prepared for things to not go our way if that is the case and Germany are not on top of their game against Austria.
That said, I expect Germany to win 3-0!

Where does this austrian optimizam come from?

From our first half performance against Croatia ... and the fact that we're facing the whole pressure.

But if they think we're "scared shitless", they might be very surprised...

Portugal [...] have 4 days more to regenerate and another day more ....
That's true.
The Germans will have Tuesday to regenerate and on Wednesday already the flight to Basel to play on Thursday against a rested Portugal, who were preparing for this game for more than one week in relaxed atmosphere.

But if there is a team to be able to beat Portugal under such circumstances - it is Germany!

If the Austrians somehow score first, things could get interesting. I think Germany still wins, but things get interesting.
