This afternoon, Queens Park Rangers stated on their website that they had put in a bid to buy Gorkss. Quite why they would advertise it I don't know as all it will do then is alert other clubs who were interested in him to maybe come in again for him. Looks like we will be losing him though, and I will be really disappointed as he was my favourite player last season. :mad:

It was reported on Sky Sports News yesterday that there has been a delay in any transfer.I just hope the delay is Blackpool doing their best to tr and keep the lad.

And another twist in the tale!

Yesterday Blackpool issued a short statement on the club's official website saying that they have reported QPR to both the FA and the Football League (FL) for what they claim to be an illegal approach for Gorkss.

If QPR are found to have made an illegal approach the FL could block the transfer going through.

Rangers fan coming in peace....What's up with Oyston? The news coming out of Loftus Road was that we met the release clause and have come to agreement with Gorkss and that nothing out of order took place....Is the story at your end different? Isn't the release clause the worst kept secret in CCC football.

Like to know your views on the affair and on Kaspar generally

To be honest I think Oyston is just trying to get more money for Gorkss. He is not exactly Mr Popular at Blackpool to say the least. I read the BBC Sport online article where he really has a go at QPR saying how he would rather sell Gorkss now to any other club than you lot.

Whilst on the one hand it is good to see our chairman defending the club, quite a few fans would doubt his sincerity. KO reckons he spoke to Gorkss but who knows. The Oyston family are stagnating our club. We have two of the richest men in football in Owen Oyston and Valeri Belokon, yet they refuse to continue building the ground, the two new stands had been let to rust, the south stand area looks like a wasteland, and the GK stand (the East stand -Gene Kelly stand) for away fans is an absolute joke. They have planning permission to increase the GK stand by 937 seats, increasing capacity up to 2,937, which whilst it is good to get increased capacity at the ground, not at the expense of home fans. And Belokon said at the annual awards night at Bloomfield Road back in May that it was "time to splash the cash" on new players. So far we have signed two players who didn't even play first team football last season! Though we have been strongly linked with Joseph Desire Job who I think would do a very good job in the Championship, but doubt he would come to us in all honesty.

Anyway, Gorkss - we will be lucky of we keep hold of him. We sold Wes Hoolahan (finally) to Norwich yesterday - after weeks and weeks when we all knew he was going there - and out of the two the one I would wish to lose the least is Gorkss. He was immense in my opinion last season, scoring eight goals from defence, including two at Derby County when we beat them (as did everyone else though...) in the League Cup at their place. He has also become an established international with Latvia now and would in my opinion anyway not look out of place in the Premiership.

I forgot to add a few things -

Release clauses are ridiculous. Players (some at least) just seem to be able to hold clubs to ransom with them.

With Karl Oyston, he last season rabbited on about modelling the club on the likes of Colchester United, and look what happened to them. But regardless of their relegation it just shows what the man thinks of the club (and it's fans for that matter) as he compares us to the smallest club in the Championship. We will have the lowest home attendances this season (with Scunny and Colchester relegated), and we will be the smallest club. But that is not because the club don't have the support. We took 30,000 to Wembley (and probably had more there as there were a few in the Yeovil end who couldn't get tickets in the Blackpool end because the Oystons sold tickets on the cheap and refused to use online ticket sales). There are a couple of videos from Blackpool fans on youtube filmed from in the Yeovil end.

The reality of our size as a club is that we are a similar sized club to Plymouth, Burnley, PKE, Barnsley and a number of other clubs and we would get similar sized attendances even to QPR if they would just let us. But instead they keep the ground small, massively increase ticket prices this season - we expected ticket price rise but not for some of up to about 40% - and price out some fans from attending. Last season we were second for home attendances as a percentage of capacity only behind Norwich City, but of course total wise we were third bottom. Yet our away support was also one of the largest. QPR bought quite a few up here as I recall too.

Always liked QPR for some reason, tight ground, liked the kit. Just don't take Gorkss, please! :D

"QPR have been very badly behaved. It is as blatant an illegal approach as I have known in all my time in football. QPR think they are above the basic rules, but they are not. We have had interest from other clubs and if I have anything to do with it, Kaspars would go to any other club rather than QPR. Simon Grayson remains hopeful we can replace him if he leaves, but we will do everything in our power to retain him."

Also apparently Oyston is now in Austria at Euro 2008 with Belokon.

Aye the drummers help create a good atmosphere at Bloomfield Road (well we have to do something with only two proper stands!). Away fans will still be housed in the appalling GK Stand this season.

QPR have announced that Gorkss has been given permission to speak with them, that he has agreed personal terms and that he should sign with the Londoners early next week.

For me as a Blackpool fan it is worse than losing Wes Hoolahan who despite his often superb performances did have a tendency to overplay and could be very frusrtrating. Yes he was a joy to watch in a tangerine shirt - he was the most skilful player we have seen at Bloomfield Road since the early 1970s. Though having said that he most definitely was not in the class of former 'Pool legends like Alan Suddick, who still lives in the town and going back further, world class players like Mortenson, Perry and Matthews.

However, Gorkss was my personal Player of the Season. He won two Player of the Season Awards, when Stephen Crainey otherwise would have had a clean sweep of all the POTS awards. He scored eight goals last season, six in the league and two at Derby County as we dumped them out of the League Cup. For a defender that was pretty damn good. Of course we can replace him, but I will miss him. On the otherhand I really hope that he one day plays in the Premier League with QPR.

And the roller coaster ride continues. Now Karl Oyston has responded to QPR's claim by denying that Blackpool have granted permission for the player to talk with QPR.

Oyston told BBC Radio Lancashire, "We definitely have not given them permission to speak to him, I'm disappointed once again with the way they've gone about their business."

Whatever is happening with Gorkss it does seem as if he has played his last game for the 'Pool as he wasn't at training when the players returned from the summer break last Thursday.

Since the transfer to QPR blew up there have been all sorts of rumours about other clubs trying to hijack the transfer and supposedly offering more money, including the likes of Norwich and Watford. However today it was rumoured that Gorkss will end up at QPR but in a swap deal with Welsh international Daniel Nardiello and another player coming up to Blackpool.

Yesterday rumours grew that QPR striker Daniel Nardiello plus either defender Chris Baker or misfielder Andy Bolder could be coming up to Blackpool in a deal for Gorkss.

QPR have also removed from their official website the statement they made saying they had been given permission to speak with Gorkss and that he had agreed personal terms with them.

Getting Nardiello and either Baker or Bolder for Gorkss would maybe then be a reasonable move. I would prefer Bolder to come here out of Bolder and Barker if I had a choice of course!

Hmmm...sure seems like someone skirted the rules somewhere in this situation. It will be interesting to see how all of this unfolds.

The Gazette are today reporting that Gorkss is training with QPR and that once the deal is finally sorted, Blackpool should get £250,000 plus striker Daniel Nardiello.

Even though the official announcement is not due until tomorrow, Gorkss made his debut for QPR tonight when he came on as a second half substitute in the Hoops 1-0 defeat at Scottish club Kilmarnock.

And (of course) the official announcement is expected tomorrow.
