Van der Sar, Kuyt, Sneijder or Chivu.

Marco Van Basten
20 years ago yes... 1988 Euro's.
He is the best coach. His changes are deadly, i was like LOL when he put Robben and Van Persie against France, but then these to done magic, netting one goal each.
Best player: Gio Van/ Sneijder.

I have to give it to Sneijder, he's got 2 goals (which I think leads Group C), and he's been all over the park with his midfield play.

i agree. he has been magnificent. but i can say the same thing for van Bronckhorst, Kuyt and even Chivu (he played excellent despite beeing injured)

Sneijder, plays defense extremely well when he's back there, attacks like a god and is a mastermind of the midfield. No one is close.

Yes he has 2, since Holland has scored 7 goals with 6 players and outside the Holland goals the other 3 countries have only scored once so they can not have a player with multiple goals. :P
But Sneijders 2nd goal was not of that much importance, besides making the goal difference 3 just like against Italy.

So far, all of the offensive Dutch players were spectacular. From the other teams, the only ones that really impressed were two goalkeepers (Lobont and Buffon, but Buffon didn't play that well in his 1st match), and some of Romania's defensive players like Chivu, Rat or Tamas.

Yeah, he was out of this world against Italy. I never saw it in him until last monday to be honest. But damn, did he prove me wrong.
But many Dutch players had an excellent game monday. Quite rare.
Agree. I never rated Van Bronckhorst but he has been playing sublimely as a LWB.

I think if romania is able to go through and pull a win or tie against the Netherlands, Lobont could be a good candidate too.

Lobont has been amazing, I will admit.

My vote goes to Sneijder, hands down.

Buffon needs a mention. Without him Italy would be packing their bags right now.

You're totally right. It can only be Gigi! :) Followed by Sneijder...

Now that the group games are over, it is still Van der Sar for me, he is 37 but has never been so good in his career as now.

That Orlando Engelaar guy has been rock solid. I've been extremely impressed with him out of all the players in this group. Also Vadersaar is in unbelievable form but Buffon isn't far behind with arguably the most stunning saves in the tournament so far.
Lobont has also been fantastic.
