An interesting editorial from Glasgow this AM.

What do those of you more "in touch" than I think of this? Other than Anelka, are there many other players that will not play for their national sides due to a perceived unfairness on the part of the national FA or coach?

I can't see him retiring from playing international football. I mean, if he thinks he's being victimised now, imagine what it will be like if he retires from internationals over it. Sky will have permanent player cam on him to pick up on the slightest infringement and the FA will hang him out to dry every chance they get. I'm not sure about the wisdom of appealing against the decision so that he can play against United either. If he didn't, he would have missed Portsmouth, United and Newcastle, but have been back for the Liverpool and Chelsea games. This way he'll make the United game, but be missing out on three tough games instead of two. And when we have an experienced, albeit ageing, campaigner in Keown as backup, I'd rather have him for as many of those big games as possible.

A seige mentality works wonders for your player's attitudes. But lashing out at the FA beyond the standard whinging to the press is very risky. My approach would be to come to the table with the FA in a reasoned way and hash things out...although maybe Wenger has tried that already.
