Yeah, it was a very entertaining match. You usually hear people say that penalties are never saved, only missed, but Buffon really did save that one.
Very entertaining match but thought Toni missed a golden opportunity in front of the goal and looked like Italy was more interested in picking up a pk in the final stretch instead of keeping their feet and finishing their chances. Very athletic, amazing save by Buffon on the pk. That save is one of the highlights so far.

IMO the best three matches have all come from Group C.
Italy - Holland
Italy - Romania
Holland - France
Others are Switzerland - Turkey and maybe Portugal - Czech Republic. Germany - Poland was also entertaining from a very personal perspective, lol.

Two really entertaining matches today. I only saw one half of each, but I chose the right half in both cases.
I saw the Romania-Italy game in a soccer bar here in Dallas. A soccer fan brought in a couple of co-workers for lunch. By the end, they all were obviously very into it.
I was in a different bar for the Holland-France match. The crowd was vocal and split half-and-half. A fun watch.

italy-romania and turkey- switzerland were clearly the most exciting until now. i could say holland-france or spain-russia but those were one-sided.

It has in no way been proven and it was over 50 years ago, so who really cares?
If you were the one to be cheated upon, perhaps your views would be different. After all, you just injected "vitamin C" into your players legs to win against those poor old bastards of Hungary. Who could possibly care about that?
But I see that the "German spirit" is still the same and could care less for the means by which a victory is guaranteed. In your own words: "in the end, it's still 3-2".
Such attitude reminds me a bit of your former goalkeeper H. Schumacher in 1982, impatiently waiting to kick off the ball while Batiston, who he had just savagedly run over, was paralyzed with pain in the ground. Disgusting as ever. In the end, Germany won. So who cares, right?
Give us a break.

I am neither German nor a fan of the German team.
So are you Hungarian? I have really never heard anyone get particularly worked up over this one.

I'm not Hungarian, nor do I need to be one in order to recognize an injustice when I see one. I just don't like cheating and people trying to dismiss it as something not important. My initial remarks in this thread were to point out that the "miracle" of Bern was no miracle at all. Nothing more, nothing less.
That 1954 World Cup is Hungary's, if not de jure at least morally de facto.

Well, we know on whose side FIFA is for a long time. They always side with the wealthiest and strongest nations. As for the 99.999999% of the population, it must be Germany's only. People get into denial to save their heroes' honour, even when their own doctor admits to have injected the players.
In the end, you'll keep believing in the "miracle" and in the "vitamin C", and we'll believe in the fraud and the dope.

Germany was not strong nor wealthy in 1954...WWII had just ended 9 years before and the country was still rebuilding. Heck, four years ago in 1950 Germany wasn't even allowed to comptete!

No, it must be everyone but you and a few other paranoid freaks looking for a conspiracy to make your dull life more interesting.
The only times I have heard this "theory" are here from you and a few other ding-bats I have met along the way...never from well versed fans with thourough knowledge of the sport..and I have lived on 3 diferent continents for extended periods of time so no, not just Germany but everywhere except your insane little world!

Germany had always been an influential nation in Europe, even in the aftermath of the war. Besides, winning against a soviet controlled state who was a huge favorite to win the competition wouldn't have been something FIFA would have frowned upon. Not to mention how important that victory was for west german football.
No, it must be everyone but you and a few other paranoid freaks looking for a conspiracy to make your dull life more interesting. For some men, when reason is lacking on their side, derogatory remarks kick in. I found it charming of you to have behaved in such a manner.

The german doctor has confessed to have injected the players, it is you who wants to believe it was "vitamin C". Don't blame those who don't fall for that fairy tale for being "paranoid freaks".
Who's "we"? You and your imaginary friends? :rolleyes:The only imaginary thing here is the "miracle" of Bern.

Look Tardo, Nobody was going to be influenced by Germany around this era...nobody!!!!
By the way, while we are at it; was this taken on the moon or on some set? I've alwaqys wondered and I'm sure you know the answer.

See, before you were just a paranoid poster with conspiracy theories, now you are just misinformed pulling whatever you can to support a lost cause.
Austria has never ever been a "Soviet controlled state". As a matter of fact, untill 1955, when they became a nation with independent rights, they were Allied-administered. After that they were considered a free western country with free elections.
So, this is why you think FIFA turned their head and "sided" with Germany? Because Austria was a Soviet Satelite?
Sorry, go back to the drawing board and rethink that line of conspiracy because it's false and won't work if your looking for crediibility to justify yourself.

Certainly. Let's see, who was more influential in 1954: West Germany or Hungary? Ouch...., tough choice.
Austria has never ever been a "Soviet controlled state". as a matter of fact, untill 1955, when they became a nation with independent rights, they were Allied-administered.
For goodness sake, nobody's talking about Austria but about Hungary! Don't you even know who Germany cheated on in the 1954 final? Please, at least have some consideration towards the poor losers you deceived. Hungary became a communist state in 1948 and were (unfortunately) still one by 1954 and beyond. At least read what is posted before you start to rant about.
Sorry, go back to the drawing board and rethink that line of conspiracy because it's false and won't work if your looking for crediibility to justify yourself.
At least I know how to distinguish Austria from Hungary. As for the "conspiracy", there's none whatsoever. It's just a gruesome fact, one you don't want to admit otherwise the "heroes" of Bern would be reduced to what they really were: sore cheaters.
After that, I have a few questions on the "Magic Bullet Theory" that supposedly killed JFK.
Please, have you come out of kindergarden yet?
