God, now I am really embarrassed.

I am recording all the matches (I'm also at work and I don't want to use streams for the EUROs) but some just aren't worth watching after you read the reports so I end up fast forwarding them for like 70 of the 90 minutes - my wife thinks I'm nuts!

That's exactly what I'm doing I'm Tivoing the games and I tell my friends at work not to get on the internet and spoil the scores for me. Then I fast forward until there's a goal. But I gotta tell ya it's way better than 4 years ago it was either PPV or Sopcast and if you where watching a game on Sopcast sometimes it buffered alot or broken link etc...I'm so glad that ESPN is covering this year..Maybe ESPN 3 will have World Cup 2010 qualifiers, now that would kick ass

You forgot to mention the Adidas boots by the German NT with studs that helped them hold their footing better...

Yes, German technology!

entertaining? for me football is not the same as entertainment, but i found switz-turkey last night exciting and entertaining. the rain obviously, but also the need for both teams to win, and the effort they put into trying to do so. the pathos of poor pat müller who has spent the last 9 months fighting injuries with one thing in mind, and ends up deflecting in the goal that ends the tournament for switzerland after two matches. rain there was plenty but also blood, sweat, and tears.

That's exactly what I'm doing I'm Tivoing the games and I tell my friends at work not to get on the internet and spoil the scores for me. Then I fast forward until there's a goal.now i'm an old fart, but i find goals to be no more interesting than the rest. and i don't see how you can truly appreciate football otherwise, it's like only watching baseball for home runs. my son drives me crazy, picking up his PSP while he's being allowed to stay up late to watch the match... he says with replays he's not missing anything but really he's missing everything. but's that's our modern youtubivo letteventi world i suppose.

time for dinosaurs like me to clear out i suppose. arrividerci roma!

yes i think spain - russia was the most entertaining game yet. what's your choice?

to be honest i wasn't that impressed with spain. they really didn't have to work hard, russia left them acres of green fields to do easy stuff... my only explanation is that the russians forgot the calendar and were out on an all-night pissup the night before the match. they were just legless, and still managed to cause spain's weak defense problems at times. the rojo's in for a chilling wakeup call if they think the whole tournament's going to be that easy.

How is there not a single mention of Portugal / Czech Rep. in this thread?

I thought that was an excellent match, and the most enjoyable in my humble opinion.

The first half was tightly contested and Portugal really turned on the pressure in the second. I'm really a Ronaldo hater, but I thought he was excellent, playing a huge part in all three goals. And his goal was deceptively brilliant, meaning it probably didn't look as brilliant as it was -- a laser through a forest of legs into the corner, struck first time off a full sprint. Technically astounding.

Baros, however, continues to prove that he's a giant hoax.

I'd have to put Switzerland - Turkey and Portugal-Czech up there. Now that teams are fighting for thier lives, the games will really liven up from here on...

Did put that up there ;)

I have to say that Spain - Russia didn't quite do it for me like it did some people here.. I thought that the match was very one sided and pretty much over at halftime. The only exception to a game like this was Holland-Italy where the score was 2-0 at halftime but the Italians were full of quality and we knew they had the quality to come back. Russia on the other hand ... I thought yesterdays games were excellent... Holland-Italy good too. Those would be my top 3.

Now that we're at it, you forgot to mention the dope - I don't know if that is considered "german technology" or not - that helped the Mannschaft knock down the Hungarians players even harder than usual, in their impressive display of "muscular" football.

And don't forget the friendly linesman that ruled out Puskás goal that would've tied the match 3-3.

Oh well, the "miracle" of Bern...

Or perhaps it's all just a myth made up by the communists - they are quite good at it, I concede - and I'm really nothing but a puerile german-hater.

Hmmm...

What dope? I admit, I only know this story from sources that certainly wouldn't mention that element if it did indeed exist.

I'm really a Ronaldo hater, but I thought he was excellent [...] technically astounding.me too, but it's true he's astounding. still, the rest of his antics ruins everything for me.

that's one thing you have to hand to nico anelka: even mowed down by the most vicious assassination attempt, he doesn't even look at the ref... his expression doesn't even change! and when he misses his CL final PK, no tears, breast beating and wringing of hands; it's just "hey, that's football, s*** happens".

Baros, however, continues to prove that he's a giant hoax.take it from an OL fan. no further proof has been necessary for years. when i think we gave carew for him straight up... mind you big john isn't all one once thought he would be but quand męme...

I expect 2nights match France against Holland to be the best match so far. Both are attacking teams so there will be enough space on the pitch to play beautifull football.

We shall see ...

I agree France vs Holland will be a great match.

Until now, the best match was without a doubt Holland- Italy

The dutch play a good game.

Malouda and Anelka...???

I don't think Malouda and Anelka are the ones to play beautifull football ... More Benzema, Ribery, Henry, Van Persie, Sneijder and Van der Vaart. I hope Robben will play tonight, on the other hand hope that we don't need him.

What dope? I admit, I only know this story from sources that certainly wouldn't mention that element if it did indeed exist.

I'm sure it wasn't "Adidas footwear" nor "Fritz's weather".

Nevertheless, don't worry because one day the truth will eventually be known. Today we know that the Inter players played doped against Benfica in the Europeans Champions Cup final of 1965, we know that Peru was bribed to lose against Argentina in the 1978 WC, we know that England's third goal against Germany in the 1966 WC final was non-existent, we know that some Brazilian players were given water with drugs by the Argentinian staff during the 1990 WC game, etc.

Football is full of injustices and the truth about these things will eventually surface and so will the "miracle" of Bern.
