I laugh...HA!

At the retardation of some people who are allowed to vote in the US. Oh lets vote for McCain because he's picked someone without a cock for his VP. Nevermind the fact she has zero experience and McCain himself actually doesn't share many political values with us, but he's picked a woman so let's vote for him.

Here's a question you need to ask yourself about this woman, can you honestly you see her holding her own against Putin?

Did I mention she's hot? Hell, they've already got www.VPILF.com (http://www.VPILF.com) up. :D

Thanks for the slightly terrifying glimpse into what Republicans find attractive... She does look like the librarian 14 year olds lust after though...

Probably just a smooth bump down there... like a barbie doll.

Ideally she won't have to. And if McCain kicks off, well, hopefully it's two years or so down the line where she gets a crash course. But I'd rather vote for a person and hope he lives than vote for him and worry about if he dies. And while we're on the subject of possible presidential deaths, Barack could get shot at the gas station just because he's black, you know. </Michelle Obama>

As to the selection itself, it's definitely a calculated risk. One that makes sense, at least to me, when you factor in all the reasons for it and realize that there's not one dominant reason. But as with any selection, it's got a possibility to blow up in McCain's face just as it has a great chance to be a hit.

Did he pick Palin purely because she was a woman and he wanted to steal the Hillary supporters' vote from Obama? No. But it is a factor. Did he pick Palin purely to assuage the concerns of an iffy conservative base? No. But it's a factor. Same can be said for her age, her "modest" roots, middle class-ness, union husband, etc. None of them the primary factor by any stretch, but all supplementary factors.

When you consider the way McCain has crafted his view of Washington, the most concrete reasons that he picked Palin are that she's not in the Washington circles in any way, shape or form, and she's proven to be someone who is unafraid of ruffling feathers and shaking things up if they need to be shaken up. That's what's going to win over the most supporters.

Then again, the overwhelming majority of people vote based on the top of the ticket, not the veep. Love Palin or hate her, this election is still going to be a referendum on Obama, and it's hard to win when you're basically running against yourself.

The first thing I thought was, "I wonder if she's related to Michael Palin." I mean, when he announced her, don't know why I didn't think that when I first read about her. I already knew she was on his radar. I looked at the possible women the other day, I had a feeling he'd pick one. And there were about five that CNN, I believe, had listed. I like the pick. She seems like a quality candidate. And this is freaking hilarious:

I wish everyone would stop talking about Palin and just let her self implode. It's inevitable, really.

If this is self-imploding she's doing a damn good job of taking the Messiah down with her.

It depends... is she naked?

New third party candidate:

Would have been better without the snide swipes, IMO. But still funny.

Just because Palin is relatively new to politics doesn't mean she doesn't have a backbone or a record to run from. She has taken on the two most significant speical interests to her in Alaska, her party and big oil, and has come out on top in each case. Obama has taken on...well...he speaks well!
If someone needs to stand up to Putin:
1. McCain is the most qualified person running to do so.
2. If it were her, Palin would stand up and take a firm stand, as she has already proven she can do.
3. Obama, based on his views and public experience wouldn't so much stand up to Putin as he would try to orchestrate a group hug while he had the diplomatic corp sing "Kum-by-a". :D

Hey now, be fair. Obama's made sure lobbyists have to stand while eating their quid-pro-quo sandwiches for lunch. :D

I love Joe Biden.

"When the stock markets crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on TV and didn't talk just about the princes of greed, he talked about what happened."

What three things are wrong with this picture?

Well, if he's referring to the 1929 crash Roosevelt wasn't President, but the Governor of New York. Plus, getting "on TV" in 1929 might have proven a bit difficult. Other than that, I'm not sure what you're talking about. I mean, he grew up rich, if you're alluding to that.

So, how about that Vice-Presidential debate?

Sweet Moses, if Palin spouts one more catch-phrase or platitude....buuuhhh at some points my jaw dropped.

I should've invited some people over and played some sort of Palin drinking game.

Finally, I think I'd be much more comfortable with a Biden-Obama ticket than vice-versa.

I've seen the VP debate, really gets on my nerves when Palin starts using her "homely" language. She barely answered any of the questions she was asked, the moderator might as well have said "When do you think a nuclear response would be appropriate? Or anything else you'd like to talk about."

I find the whole media debate on it of being like a popularity contest disturbing. Using terms like "hockey mom" every 5 minutes might make her popular, but if there's a terrorist attack and the President is out of the country/on Airforce one, who would you rather was coordinating the response. That surely has to be the crux of the debate?

She doesn't believe in early withdrawal, funny that neither does her daughter's boyfriend.

I listened to about 25 minutes and got fed up with all three of them. That's why I don't pay attention to debates, I just pay attention to policy speeches. Debates are basically grownups acting like six year olds.

How?

"He said/did this."

"That's not true! I'm right, you're wrong!"

"Are not! You're wrong!"

"Haha! You messed something up!"

It's all about attacking people and blowing up each other's arguments anymore. You don't learn anything from debates that you can't learn from other forums.

Ummm...the debate last night wasn't like that at all.

At least, IMO. Interested in what other people think.
