in what way will the dutch crash out of the tourney in later stages?
they should be clear favorites after this

Seriously ... the brilliance of that goal is just hard digest.
I thought Robben could have been the best player in the world when he first signed for Chelsea. Then he got hurt in their pre-season tour and was hot and cold ever since.
That was the Robben I thought would dominate football a few years ago.

If you could write "France" and "poor" in the same sentence, something is wrong.

As an Italy supporter, I was hoping for a France win.
As a football supporter, it's impossible not to root for the football Holland are playing.
As both, I'm hoping even a non-full-strength Dutch side can produce a win against Romania.
well it could be. if i'm not mistaking the czech (already qualified) beat the dutch 3-2 with many reserves. but if the dutch win tonight they will have 1st place no matter what. so i can hope they will take it easy with romania :D

I'd say yes -- so they'd have someone to blame other than their vaunted "offense."

In 2004 they beat the dutch with their main squad, then went on to beat Germany with their B team, which allowed the Dutch to continue from their group too and send Germany home.

Another consideration to make.. I've posted this elsewhere... remember Holland, if they win their quarterfinal will meet the D1 v C2 quarterfinal winner. No disrespect to Romania, but I could see the Dutch preferring them over a Italy or France rematch. I could very easily see the Dutch tactfully 'taking it easy' vs Romania to ensure that both the other group C giants are eliminated.
Just a thought.... ;)
