I think looking at statistics from the past doesn't mean a thing, look at Italy, Holland has not beaten Italy in 30 years and everybody expects them to lose or get a draw at best and boom: 3-0. France is a supposedly great football country, however the statistics show that Holland has a good record against France too and has beaten them more often than the other around.

Spain might have history, but Spain also has class players. As class as any other side in the tournament. Yes, as a longtime Red Sox fan I understand what that pressure can do, but I also know that in soccer, a team with world-quality players can win any given day.

And a team with David Villa and Fernando Torres as strikers can offensively explode any given day.

Well... of course you never know, but... do you want to bet?;)

Italy has only beaten us in friendlies mostly (2 years ago they beat us 3-1)
But in major tournaments Italy has never beaten us and never even scored a goal (in regulation time).

We beat Italy 2-0 in 1978
We tied them 0-0 in Euro 2000 (but they won the PK's)
And of course this Euro we won 3-0

So past statistics do mean something IMO
