What does it matter if he touched it with his foot? He choke slammed Niculae. Clear penalty, nothing else is relevant.
Yeah, and so? I have just read the post I missed and nobody has said that wasn't a penalty.
Anyway I have to say (despite the opinions of the romanians/romania fans here ;)) that the final 1-1 wasn't completely a fair result, and that if you say that it was, well, you really are subjective.
I mean, what did Romania did apart of some not-really-important counterattack actions (that ended always with the ball on our players feet), the goal action and the action that caused the Pk's?
We attacked in the whole 1st half (except 10 minutes in the middle of the half) and in the whole 2nd half (except the first ten minutes and some counterattack actions here and there). And if you add that the refereeing was horrible (because you can't say it wasn't), well, the draw wasn't totally a fair result.

LOL
This is a choke slam:

Don't be such a drama queen now.

Bottom line is, it wasn't a fair result because the ref. made a bad call against Italy. The proper result should have been 2-1. It's nothing new getting screwed by the refs. It happened in 2002, and now 2008. It's about ********ing time TECHNOLOGY is introduced to the game. Then again, the bribes and other corruptive behavior would be minimized, and we can't let that happen now can we? lol

What does "out of touch" mean? Seriously... I studied english at school with bad teachers so recently I had to self-teach me but I still don't know some idioms like that (and I don't know even some verses or some words)

pathetic , you only hold the ball in our half more, you made alot of crossings but 95 % of them were without adress. We had at least 2 situations 1 on 1 with the keeper, we had 1 post and much more shots then italy , according to the statistics Romania had 5 shots on goal 15 shots wide, Italy had 4 shots on goal , 10 shots wide, you are one of the few saying italy played better then us, yesterday.....
you're lucky you got a draw....
about the referee, the penalty was 100 % a penalty and Toni's goal was erroneously dissalowed but you italians whining about refeeree mistakes is damn pathethic, how about the penalty you received against Australia at the WC ? why didn't you made so much fuss about the first coal conceded against Holland ?
P.S.
AN ITALIAN REFEREE WILL LEAD THE GAME HOLLAND - ROMANIA : Massimo Busacca, ISN'T THIS OUTRAGEOUS, AND YOU COMPLAIN ABOUT REFEREES AND CHEATING ?

romanians, do you really think that if toni's goal had not been unfairly disallowed you would have had the few counterattack chances you had in the second half?
Are you sure you wouldn't have had to face plentiful of italy's counterattacks while Italy would have minimized your chances with a cautious attitude?
The game unfolded the best way for you and in order to be that way a huge mistake by the referee was needed. That's a fact.
from a tactical POV that mistake had a huge impact on the match. It's not your fault, that's true, and we cannot possibly know what would have happened after... we can only guess... but acknowledging that would be a good step towards a fair account of the match.

He is swiss (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Massimo_Busacca) and generally people from italian switzerland are not exactly fans of Italy.
I seriously doubt he will risk to hamper his international career by helping Italy. not mentioning the fact that it's not like Italy beating France is likely to happen.

please watch the match again, the statistics simply contradict your suppositions, we had much more shots then you did, we had even a post 2 situations 1 on 1 with the keeper, you "counter attacks" were at mostly a weak attempt of attacking, you were only crossing the ball from side to side, those are not chances....
1 penalty missed
1 post
2 situations 1 o 1 with the keeper
5 shots on target 15 shots wide, you had 4 shots on target 10 shots wide etc
watch the game again you are lucky you escaped with a draw.

are you sure you're saying something that contradicts and denies what I said? read my post again.
I will make it simple. Let's say the first half ends 1-0 like it should. You would not have played defense and counterattacks anymore in the second half, you would have been forced to play attack and Italy would have played defense and counterattacks.
That's the reason why that mistake was crucial, because it affected the tactics of the game. we were never given the possibility to play conservative and exploit the open spaces with the counters. And we deserved that chance because we did score a legitimate goal.
The only reasonable reply you could present is that we still don't know what would have happened if the tactics of the game had changed.

vuol dire in questo caso "non pił in contatto con la realtą delle cose, alienati, non informati".

This is just silly now! Everyone is pretty much agreeing with one another and still shouting across.
1. The goal by Toni was NOT offside (bad call).
2. That was certainly a penalty.
3. Both teams had a fair number of chances.
4. The team that gets the bad call always claims to have been a victim and how otherwise they would have won... Every team gets bad calls, you gotta live with it (unless there are a series of bad calls making it more suspect). If the goal had been allowed, anything could have happened, including the possibilty of Romania pushing more and winning the game (slim but possible).
Arguing about a bad call and what ifs makes no sense!

It almost looks like you encountered for the first time people discussing a bad call by a referee and its impact to the game. you do really look genuinely surprised. :)
Have you an idea of how many what if's and extremely personal opinions comprise the typical sport discussion?
stop discussing about things that are based on personal preferences/opinions, it does not make sense!
I did point out that the bad call deeply impacted the tactics of the game, not only the score, but it's not like I believe arguing about that will change the result.
And do I really commit capital sin if I enjoy discussing about the likely outcome of a good refereeing decision IMHO?

no. i think it's part of the football phenomenon. :) it's your right to argue, but hey here comes tuesday with another two crucial matches :D. the game ended 1-1. i say it's a fair result. you may say what you want. the fact is this is the score that remains. you must now think at the big match with France. we, romanians have the biggest chance to qualify, but anything can still happen. if you win with France you might qualify (although i'm not going to cheer for you ;))

I agree with you when you look at the chances. And that's the most important way to look at it. I could have a slightly different opinion when it comes on quality of play. but really, that is secondary and probably much influenced by my will to find some consolation on the disappointing result.
Romania did their game, nothing to object, much to congratulate. And it was certainly not romania's fault if the referee saw that episode wrong.

There's no need to remind that. :)
I am not exactly optimistic both about our game vs france and your game. But really, the disappointment is gone now, if we get some luck, good, if not... time to focus on a new Italy NT and a new task.

You should talk, all the excuses by the German posters after the Croatia game puts this thread to shame in that department.
so what? i don't give a damn about what other german supporter said about the game. croatia deserved to win in my opinion.
but what i see here is absolutely ridiculous and at the same time so typical for italian fans. when italy wins by cheat once again you are all calm like a sheep when italy loses it's always because of a bad ref or it is an absurd conspiracy. i get the feeling you guys watch the first time football in your life. there will always be bad calls, the secret to still succed is to play dominant and still try to score so you can absorb one or two bad calls. not starting desperate diving when you are out of ideas. for gods sake, italy calls himself the current world champion but can be lucky mutu had mercy. be glad italy still has a little chance and stop with this silly excuses. it's ridiculous.

what are you complaining about? didn't you get a "favorable call" in the end of the australia vs italy game on the world cup?????? what comes around goes around
Where do you see me complaining about the PK call? Reading comprehension, you should try it sometime.
Where do you see me saying anything about a pk call? Looks like you are the one with issues here..

See, more complaining and whinnying. You complaint about getting screw by the reff now and in 2002, but how many times have you been favored by refs??? Don't make excuses for the tied and possible elimination of italy, you are just making a fool out of yourself. Also first look at your league and national team and then talk about reducing bribes and corruptive behavior.

Sounds like someone is still bitter about getting beat 2-0 in the last World Cup, in their own backyard, in a stadium they have never lost. Let's revisit that glorious day, shall we? When was the last time Germany beat Italy in a World Cup again?

Typical? Germans being sour and bitter is what's typical here.

I'm not complaining, I'm stating the obvious and facts. Tell me how many times we've been favored by the refs, give me one specific occurrence if you can. If not, go back to being oblivious like your national team.
