Wow, what a great game! :) The best so far in my eyes (even better than "Italy vs Holland").

Kudos to both teams for presenting us such an entertaining match!

PS: Gigi (what a sensational pk save) & Lobont were superb.

Good game, lots of drama, would say a draw was a fair result in the end.

Well, it was at the moment it was kicked, and I know what I saw.

But I refuse to debate with fans, it's pointless.

Watch the video I posted in post #195, and you'll see that at the 0:18 second mark in the video, Toni is clearly in an onside position when the ball is passed to him.

Was Del Piero part of the play? He's the one who was clearly offside, although that angle is quite bad to see clearly if someone else was.

So far this group, that on paper should be the strongest, is producing some of the worst play in the tournament.

If you refer to the games "Holland vs Italy" or "Italy vs Romania", I advice you to buy some glasses or get new ones! :p

He didn't make a play at the ball.

It looked as if no one was offside in the goal, Toni was a yard or two onside.

Guys I was thinking... what happens if:
- France beat the dutch tonight
- Italy beat France in the last game

At that point they are all 4 points, right? Ok, now let's assume that holland in the last game beat romania

holland 6
france 4
italy 4
romania 2

The one who go through is Italy or France?

Italy, because head-to-head comes before goal diff.

Agreed. Romania had their heartbreaks, hitting the post, miracle penalty save, and Italy had theirs: offside goal was legit, loads of chances generated not finished well or beautifully saved, and some horrible freaking cynical dives that negated any argument that they were treated unfairly by the refs (if they were willing to cheat to get the result they wanted AND THEY WERE, the room for an argument that somehow they were cheated (when they were trying to cheat) holds little water).

Whoever has the best goal difference.

If equal then it's Penalties as may happen in group A Sunday.

Head to head is the first tie breaker. If Italy beats France...they hold the tiebreaker.

Good game? Entertaining, yes. But too many missed passes for my taste, and just kicking the ball away from the area by the Romanians.

No. First is head to head, and then goal-difference.

Canadian TV showed the replay in slow-mo and Toni was more than a foot offside.

I think you really need some (new) glasses... ;)

Didn't Mutu get the Romanian's goal still? Save the Dramatics Please!

He should have shot, uppershelf in hindsight, but it's over and it should not bother the lad.

It's good that he missed that pk ... cause the call was a joke in my eyes!

He didn't make a play at the ball.
In the WC a goal by the USA against Italy was disallowed because a US player was blocking the view of the Italian keeper. So "being part of the play" involves more than making a play at the ball.

I'm doubtful about this one.

Yes. Interfering with play, interfering with an opponent, and gaining an advantage by being in an offside position, if you want to be specific.

I don't even think Perotta was offside, but was even with 2LD. Even if he was slightly offside, he didn't interfere with play, IMO.
